A six-week display and a shorter ticket window

ZooLights runs at the Oregon Zoo from Nov. 20, 2026 to Jan. 3, 2027 and opens nightly at 4:30 p.m.

The flexible ticket runs a shorter window. ZooLights Any Night tickets can be bought in advance and used on any night from Nov. 20 to Dec. 31, 2026. That window closes three nights before the display does, so a stay booked for Jan. 1 or Jan. 2 cannot carry an Any Night ticket.

How the flexible ticket covers a rain-out

The zoo's own answer on wrong dates is that ZooLights tickets are generally non-refundable and non-transferable. The same answer adds that some guests qualify for an exchange or a refund of the original order, handled as a request to the zoo's help center with the order information and a reason attached.

The page states no weather exception either way. An Any Night ticket lets you pick the night when the forecast settles. A dated ticket fixes the night before the weather arrives.

The closed nights decide the booking

The zoo lists the display closed Nov. 17 to 19 and Nov. 24 to 26, and on Dec. 25. Book a room on a closure night and the lights are not running. The Thanksgiving block is the one to watch, because three consecutive dark nights sit inside that week.

Six nights the Any Night ticket cannot reach

BrewLights runs Nov. 13 and 14, Member Preview Night is Nov. 15, and Sensory Friendly Night is Nov. 16. All four fall before the Any Night window opens, so a flexible ticket buys none of them. The 21-and-over nights run Jan. 1 and 2, after the window closes, and an Any Night ticket reaches neither of those.

What a night costs

The zoo publishes a range for each ticket type. Adult tickets run $13 to $35 and youth tickets $13 to $30, and the page states that prices and times vary throughout the season. It also names Value Nights, where member discounts do not stack on top.

Members take 20 percent off regularly priced tickets. Price the membership against the ticket before you build a room booking around the discount, because the spread between the low and high ends of the adult range is $22 a head.

The Snow Globe, priced

A Snow Globe is a heated private space for a 60-minute session, furnished for up to six guests, with a shared fire pit, hot cocoa in a souvenir cup, s'mores and fast-pass train tickets that let the party skip the line. The cost is $300.

The page does not state whether admission is included in that figure, so ask before treating the Snow Globe as the whole evening's spend. Beer, wine and donuts are sold separately.

Getting up the hill without a car

The zoo sits in Washington Park at 4001 SW Canyon Road, west of downtown Portland. A ZooLights ticket also works as a TriMet ticket to and from the zoo on its admission date, valid on buses, MAX, WES, LIFT and the Portland Streetcar, and not valid on C-TRAN.

The zoo points guests to TriMet Park & Ride lots such as Sunset Transit Center, one MAX stop west of the zoo. Parking at the zoo is limited and first-come, first-served, and the lot is paid through a station or an app.

Two details for the stay

The zoo is card-only, and cash-to-card machines inside the gates convert bills for free. The light path runs about 1.25 miles, and most guests spend about 90 minutes on it. A 4:30 p.m. opening puts dinner at 6:30 or later.

The zoo states that most animals are not on view during ZooLights. Sell the lights, the train and the hot chocolate.

The stay that fits

Anchor the room on a night inside the Any Night window, steer clear of the three closure blocks, and get the property's cancellation deadline in writing before you commit. A hotel near a MAX station removes the parking question, because the ticket already covers the ride.

hotelhuddle sends one request to more than 50 hotels in the destination and returns competing rates in 24 to 72 hours. Submitting is free and you pay the property directly.
