Two nights for one weekend

Aloha Spirit runs the Portland Showdown 2027 for DI and DII teams on January 9 and 10 at the Oregon Convention Center. The event occupies Halls B-C. Registration is required, and the organizer publishes one telephone line: 800.840.4772.

The competition runs both days. Book Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th, and check out Monday the 11th. A booking that drops Sunday night leaves a competition day.

The Build, Remodel & Landscape Show runs in Hall A from January 8 to 10. The venue calendar lists twelve events in January 2027, and these two share the same two days. Both draw on the 800-space garage and on the same Lloyd hotel inventory.

Where to book

The building sits at 777 NE Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, 97232. Each distance below is the driving route from the property to that address. All six are a walk of under a mile.

Hotel Eastlund — 1021 NE Grand Avenue, 97232. 0.4 mile. Three stars.

Hyatt Regency Portland — 375 NE Holladay Street, 97232. 0.55 mile. Four stars.

Inn at the Convention Center — 420 NE Holladay Street, 97232. 0.5 mile. Two stars.

Motel 6 — 518 NE Holladay Street, 97232. 0.4 mile. Two stars.

Courtyard by Marriott Portland Downtown/Convention Center — 435 NE Wasco Street, 97232. 0.55 mile. Three stars.

DoubleTree by Hilton Portland — 1000 NE Multnomah Street, 97232. 0.7 mile. Four stars.

All six sit inside the Lloyd District. Moda Center and Veterans Memorial Coliseum stand next door.

Parking, priced against the rate

Ask every property whether its rate includes parking. The OCC garage is the benchmark: $15 for up to 18 hours with no in-and-out privileges, and a dynamic $15 to $25 at entry on event days. Two nights of parking therefore run $30 to $50 before any hotel charge.

The garage opens at 6 a.m. daily and holds 800 spaces. The OCC states it can reach capacity on busy days and that space is first-come, first-served. Overnight parking is prohibited. Clearance is 7 feet on P1 and 9 feet on P2, the entrances are on NE Lloyd Boulevard and NE First Avenue, and the drive-through booths take cards only.

The OCC counts 566 metered spaces within three blocks. Those spaces turn over through the day, so they cover short stops.

Transit covers the airport

TriMet MAX stops 300 times a day near the front door and connects the building to downtown, the Oregon Zoo and Portland International Airport. The Convention Center station sits at NE Holladay and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, opposite the entrance. The airport is eight miles away.

The adult fare is $2.80 for 2½ hours, and riding is free after $5.60 in one day. Two event days come to $11.20.

Portland Streetcar's A Loop stops at NE MLK and Hoyt every 15 minutes outside the main entrances. TriMet bus line 6 stops at NE MLK and Holladay.

The cancellation questions

Ask four questions before the weekend locks. What is the last date to cancel without penalty? Is the penalty one night or the full stay? Is the rate prepaid and non-refundable? Can names be substituted on the reservation?

Put the answers in the confirmation email. A verbal answer at the front desk does not govern the reservation.

The checklist

Five items: the nights of Saturday January 9 and Sunday January 10; a Lloyd property under a mile from 777 NE MLK; parking priced against $15 to $25 a day; a transit plan for at least one day; and the cancellation window in writing.
