Booking One Night for the Folsom Street Fair

The Folsom Street Fair runs one day only, on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The organisers have kept it on the last Sunday in September for decades, and their travel page sells rooms against that single date. A fixed afternoon and a published early-bird offer decide when you book.

The fair is produced by Folsom Street, a 501(c)3 non-profit arts and culture organisation. Its about page states that since 1984 the organisation has given over $7 million in proceeds to nonprofit LGBTQ2S+ centred organisations. The community centre sits at 1286 Folsom Street at 9th Street, and the fair's headquarters on the day is at 1401 Folsom.

One fixed day, one night that carries it

The footprint runs along Folsom Street between 7th and 13th, and on 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th Streets from Howard to Harrison, plus Dore Street from Howard to the end. Seven community stages, exhibitors and outdoor bars fill that footprint for seven hours. The published program covers that one afternoon.

The night that carries the fair is Sunday, September 27 into a Monday, September 28 checkout. That single night spans the 11 a.m. gate and the 6 p.m. close, and it holds a bag, a change of clothes and a meal before the trip home.

A Saturday, September 26 arrival buys the night before. Ask the property for its checkout hour before you choose, because a late-morning checkout lands on the same hour the fair opens. The Saturday night covers hours the fair cannot use.

Why the organisers' own block is three nights

The travel page's booking button goes to one property: BEI San Francisco, Trademark Collection by Wyndham, at 50 8th Street, San Francisco, CA 94103. The link carries a fixed stay, check-in 09/25/2026 and check-out 09/28/2026, under group code 260925FOL. That is three nights, Friday 25, Saturday 26 and Sunday 27, for a fair that runs on one of those days.

The block is the organisers' own answer to the timing question, and it answers with a long weekend. A fair day on its own needs one night, so the block shape points at the close of Leather Week.

What the early-bird line says, and what it leaves open

The published copy reads "DON'T MISS EARLY BIRD DISCOUNTS ON ROOMS FOR BEST PRICE BOOK NOW!" above a button labelled "BOOK YOUR ROOM FOR FSF 2026." Those two lines are the whole of the lodging content. No nightly rate, no discount percentage and no expiry date appear on the page.

The missing expiry is the item to chase. Ask the property to state the cut-off date and the nightly difference between the early-bird rate and its flexible rate in writing before you commit a non-refundable night.

Arriving without a car

The organisers recommend prebooking parking through SpotHero. For transit, the FAQ routes Bay Area arrivals to BART, with an average airport fare between $11 and $13 from SFO or OAK, and local trips to Muni. Muni shuts down at night, so plan the return leg. The FAQ calls September the month San Francisco often heats up, and still advises layers and a light jacket.

The gate arithmetic

Entry runs on donations. Gate volunteers ask for $10 to $20 and hand back a fair sticker that carries a discount at every bar on the grounds. Both fairs are 18-and-over, pets are not permitted, and the grounds are smoke-free under city ordinance, with gate re-entry and smoke-friendly businesses as the workaround. Accessible parking is published as 14 spaces for this fair, on Howard at Dore and on Harrison at 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th.

What to hold back once the discount goes

The date survives any rate. The organisers publish the rule they keep, the last Sunday in September from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., so the fair's place in the calendar is knowable long before any room is priced. Lock the date early and price the room late.

The stay shape is the second thing to hold. A block built as three nights will not price a single night, so a Sunday-only booking becomes a separate public rate with its own terms. Wait for the property to put the cancellation deadline in writing, and keep the Sunday night as the one night worth a weekend premium.
