The AI Conference 2026 runs September 29 to October 1 at Pier 48 in San Francisco's Mission Rock district. The published agenda opens Day ZERØ at 8:30 a.m., and the organisers bill the program as three days with 120-plus speakers. The same site lists eight nearby properties in order of availability, and the two within a walk carry the first two deadlines.

Two of the eight are a walk from the door

Only two listings carry a walking time. Luma Hotel San Francisco, 100 Channel Street, sits 0.3 mile from the venue, a 6-minute walk, with a group cut-off of August 28, 2026. Hotel VIA, 138 King Street, sits 0.6 mile out, a 9-minute walk, with a cut-off of September 2, 2026. The hotelhuddle directory carries both addresses, and its Hotel VIA entry reads four stars.

Every other property on the list is measured in car minutes: SoMa House at 1.9 miles and 11 minutes, W San Francisco at 1.8 miles and 15 minutes, Cartwright Hotel Union Square at 2.3 miles and 12 minutes, Hyatt Regency San Francisco at 1.6 miles and 9 minutes, Hotel Fiona at 1.9 miles and 11 minutes, and Hotel Julian at 2.4 miles and 13 minutes.

The walkable pair carry the two tightest cut-offs

Line the eight cut-offs up in date order. Luma closes first, on August 28. Cartwright, Hotel Fiona and Hotel Julian close August 29. W San Francisco closes September 1, Hotel VIA September 2 and Hyatt Regency September 6. SoMa House publishes no cut-off at all. The property 0.3 mile from the door carries the earliest deadline, and the one 0.6 mile out carries the second earliest.

The page marks three listings "STILL AVAILABLE": SoMa House, W San Francisco and Cartwright Hotel Union Square. All three sit 1.8 miles or further out. The two walkable properties carry no such tag, and the date ladder puts both of them first.

The eight, in the organisers' own order

Each listing is tied to its own group link: SoMa House through iHotelier group 5128792, W San Francisco through the Marriott group reservation link, Cartwright through a shortened booking address, Hotel VIA through Windsurfer with group 4564318, Luma through SynXis with group 9153766, Hyatt Regency through the SFORD group-booking page, and Hotel Fiona and Hotel Julian through iHotelier groups 5128921 and 5128785.

The block prices sit inside those links, so the nightly rate has to come from the property or from the booking page once you enter dates.

The block's own dates run longer than the conference

Two links open with pre-filled dates, and both point two days before the first published session. Luma's group link arrives September 27 and departs October 2, a five-night default. Hotel VIA's link checks in September 27 for one night. Day ZERØ, the small-room kickoff, runs Tuesday, September 29, so a September 27 arrival lands two nights before any session on the agenda.

Nights against the published clock

The clock settles the stay. Day ZERØ on Tuesday, September 29 opens with registration and coffee at 8:30 a.m. Day 1 on Wednesday, September 30 starts registration at 7:30 a.m. Day 2 on Thursday, October 1 closes with a reception at 5 p.m. Anyone attending the two full conference days and staying to the close needs the nights of Tuesday 29, Wednesday 30 and Thursday 1, checking out Friday, October 2. Add Day ZERØ and the arrival moves to Monday, September 28 for a fourth night.

The organisers bill Day ZERØ as a small-room day capped at 350 participants and mark it sold out, while describing the conference itself as hosting over 5,500 attendees. Day ZERØ carries a full three-day pass, so the arrival date and the ticket type move together.

When the group rate is the right buy

Book the walkable pair first. A group cut-off sets a booking window, and the two walkable properties are the two with the earliest dates. Hold a room at Luma or Hotel VIA for the 0.3-mile and 0.6-mile walk, then add a car-ride property only if the group terms run out or the rate spread covers the ride.

Choose the block over a public rate when three things line up: the cut-off is still ahead, the cancellation terms are stated in writing, and the nightly difference beats the cost of the ride. Once the walkable blocks have closed, the remaining inventory sits 1.6 miles or further out, and a flexible rate at that distance can price below a penalised group night.

Getting to Pier 48

The venue is Pier 48, Mission Rock, San Francisco, CA 94158, in Shed A and B, steps from Oracle Park. Ride services cannot drop off in front of the building: the FAQ lists the Lyft destination as Pier 48 and the Uber destination as Pier 48 at 297 Terry A Francois Blvd. Parking information is routed to ParkWhiz. The organisers describe the location as reachable from downtown, Caltrain and the major freeways.

What to hold back

The 2027 edition is published as October 12 to 14, 2027 in San Francisco, so the next cycle already has dates. The cut-off ladder above has passed for the 2026 conference, with the earliest closing August 28, which leaves the order of the list as the reusable part.
