Two deadlines now sit in the past
CANVAS 2026 opens at the Oregon Convention Center on 30 October. The programme runs 1 to 4 November, and the venue books it into Halls A1-B-C. The organiser published two hotel cut-offs, and today sits behind both.
The hotels page asks for every reservation by Monday 12 October at 10 p.m. EST. That is the moment the listed rates stop being guaranteed. The dates page prints a hotel reservation deadline of 7 October. It prints the same date as the hotel late cancellation deadline, with up to two nights room and tax charged on a cancellation after it.
Six official hotels published rates from $184 to $255. All six exclude taxes and fees. The housing provider is Orchid Events.
The six rates, in the organiser's order
1. Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center, 375 NE Holladay St. Single $235, double $235, triple $245, quad $255. The property stands across the street from the convention center.
2. Hotel Eastlund, 1021 NE Grand Ave. Single $219, double $229, triple $239, quad $249. The page lists 0.17 miles.
3. DoubleTree by Hilton Portland, 1000 NE Multnomah St. Single $205, double $205, triple $215, quad $225. 0.46 miles.
4. Courtyard Portland Downtown Convention Center, 435 NE Wasco St. Single $224, double $224, triple $234, quad $244. 0.29 miles.

What the $51 buys
Single and double rates spread $51 a night across that list, from $235 to $184. Triples and quads hold the same spread.
A five-night stay from Saturday 31 October to Thursday 5 November bills $1,175 at the Hyatt Regency and $920 at the Hilton on a single or double. The difference reads $255. A four-night stay from Sunday 1 November to Thursday 5 November bills $940 and $736, a difference of $204.
The Hyatt Regency removes the commute. The Hilton adds a MAX ride and removes $51 a night. MAX light rail stops 300 times a day near the convention center front door. The Streetcar A Loop arrives every 15 minutes at NE MLK and Hoyt. Bus 6 stops at NE MLK and Holladay. The Hilton pass covers the rail leg.
What a room booked today carries
The deposit is one night's room and tax per room. Hotels charge it on or after 12 October, and a cancellation after that date leaves it with the hotel. Cancellations from 22 September to 12 October carried a $40 fee. Changes from 13 October go through the hotel.
Room type is assigned at check-in. Special requests are not guaranteed. Orchid Events sends an acknowledgement within 24 hours, and the hotel sends no written confirmation. Stop waiting on the block
Both published clocks sit in the past. Group requests for 10 or more rooms closed on 14 September, and the organiser sends anyone after that date to book as an attendee.
Two routes remain. A reader who wants one of the six official rates calls Orchid Events and asks whether the property still holds rooms at the published figure. A reader who books with the property asks three questions and writes the answers down: the nightly rate, the cancellation deadline, and the deposit.
The organiser publishes no refund window for a room cancelled at the front desk. The property's own terms become the whole contract.
Parking at the venue
The underground garage holds 800 spaces. The standard charge runs $15 for up to 18 hours with no in and out privilege. Event days carry a dynamic $15 to $25 charge at entry. The garage opens at 6 a.m., keeps a 7-foot clearance on P1 and a 9-foot clearance on P2, and takes cards only. Overnight parking is prohibited, so a hotel room carries no garage space.
