Confluent opens Current San Francisco 2026 on November 4 at Moscone West, and the organiser's own framing is a gathering first. Its FAQ describes Current as "an annual community event that brings together the best minds in data streaming for two days of connection, learning, and sharing through hands-on experiences." The conference page carries the same emphasis across three headings, Network, Discover and Learn, and the networking clause names "1:1 networking opportunities, signature social events, and extensive expo hall" as the route to "industry thought leaders, movers and shakers, and analysts."
That framing is the brief for anyone deciding whether to travel. The programme counts 80+ sessions, and the schedule the organiser publishes spends a full Tuesday on arrival and a Wednesday evening on a party.
The clock: a Tuesday reception, two working days, a Wednesday party
The day map sits on the San Francisco page rather than the venue's. Tuesday, November 3 is a travel day to San Francisco, followed by the Speaker Welcome Reception. Wednesday, November 4 runs the Main Keynote, Breakout Sessions and Lightning Talks, the Expo Hall, Networking, and the Current Party. Thursday, November 5 repeats the breakout, lightning-talk, expo-hall and networking blocks without the keynote or the party.
Two consequences follow. The conference's own working days are November 4 and 5, so a Wednesday check-in misses the keynote and the reception. A Tuesday November 3 arrival through a Thursday November 5 checkout is two nights and covers every community moment the page names.
Who the 100-plus speakers are drawn from
The conference page counts 100+ speakers, 3,000+ attendees, 50+ partners and 80+ sessions. The named source for the speaker pool is the 2026 Program Committee page, which lists eleven people across six organisations. From Confluent: Adi Polak, Director of Advocacy and Developer Experience Engineering; Anna McDonald, Technical Voice of the Customer; Gunnar Morling, Principal Technologist; Olena Kutsenko, Staff Developer Advocate; Sandon Jacobs, Senior Developer Advocate; and Viktor Gamov, Principal Developer Advocate. From OpenAI: Aravind Suresh, Head of Streaming Platform, who leads the real-time infrastructure team behind ChatGPT and Sora. From Ververica: Ben Gamble, Field CTO. From Pinterest: Jeff Xiang, Senior Software Engineer. From Kinetic Edge: Neil Buesing, Co-Founder, CTO. From Stripe: Vijay Kistampalli, Software Engineer.
The organiser states the committee's reach directly: "Our program committee spans the globe and areas of expertise to bring you the biggest event in data streaming," and adds that Current "isn't just made for data people; it's made by data people."
What the session list says, and what it does not
The Sessions page carries 77 cards holding 72 distinct titles. Five titles repeat down the list. The titles name where the work is done: Netflix on Kafka resilience, Slack on change data capture, Dropbox on a self-serve EventBus running millions of events per second, LinkedIn on event-driven agents, Whatnot on scaling Kafka producers past 50,000 pods, Booking.com on one YAML Flink platform for a full security stack, plus McDonald's, Bradesco and Canada Life.
Read the card bylines with care. All 77 cards carry the same speaker line, "Hadar Federovsky, Akamai / Yulia Antonovsky, Akamai", so the bylines are one pair repeated down the list. Use the titles. Treat the bylines as a placeholder.
Where the community stays
The organiser answers the lodging question on its FAQ page: "Hotel blocks are available in your confirmation email, all within walking distance of the Moscone Center." No property, nightly rate or cut-off date is published anywhere on the host, so the block is a post-registration detail rather than a bookable list.
Moscone West sits at 800 Howard Street at the corner of Fourth and Howard. Our own directory places these properties within a short straight-line distance of that corner, computed from the network's own property coordinates: InterContinental San Francisco, 888 Howard Street, 124 metres; San Francisco Marriott Marquis, 780 Mission Street, 217 metres; Canopy by Hilton San Francisco SoMa, 250 4th Street, 219 metres; Hotel Zelos San Francisco, 12 4th Street, 266 metres; Four Seasons, 757 Market Street, 352 metres; The St. Regis San Francisco, 125 3rd Street, 389 metres. Those are straight-line distances, not walking routes.
The venue's own directions page settles the ground transport: BART or MUNI to Powell station for Moscone West, a Caltrain station at 4th and Townsend Streets, and no on-site parking at the Center.
Two registration facts on the same page disagree
The San Francisco page carries both a complimentary-pass block and a price ladder. The complimentary block reads "Current passes are available at no cost this year," with the caveat that capacity is limited and passes may not survive once the event reaches capacity. The same page publishes four paid tiers: Early Bird General Attendee $499, expired August 15; Advance Individual Pass $699, expiring October 10; Standard Individual Pass $899, expiring October 29; Onsite Individual Pass $999. The headline above them reads "Register now for $899 until October 29."
One free route is stated plainly: "Once you are confirmed as a speaker, you will receive instructions on how to register for free." Ask the organiser which price applies before committing money. Registration transfers close on November 3, 2026 through current@regsvc.com, and the FAQ states that cancellations of travel and hotel reservations made directly with a hotel are the responsibility of the attendee.
The nights to hold
Book Tuesday November 3 and Wednesday November 4 for a Thursday checkout. That covers the Speaker Welcome Reception, both conference days and the Current Party, and it matches the schedule the organiser publishes rather than a night count inferred from the date span.
