The clock that decides the booking
The Marigold Project holds its Festival of Altars for one day in Potrero Del Sol Park, also called La Raza Park. The organiser's own day line reads: Installation begins @ 8am | High Noon ceremony begins @ 12pm | Entertainment begins @ 5 - 9pm.
The altar-setup guidelines carry the fourth clock. Clean up begins promptly at 10pm. Setup itself runs 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the organiser asks that an altar be standing by 2 p.m.
Four clocks, one day, and a booking decision that turns on which of them the guest came for.
The organiser's pages still print the 2025 edition
The festival page is headed November 2, 2025, and the announcement bar across the site reads Join us on November 2, 2025 for the 33rd Annual Festival of Altars. None of the five pages the site's own sitemap lists carries a 2026 date, and the footer still reads © 2024.
November 2, 2026 is a Monday. That weekday resets the arithmetic. A Saturday-night arrival ahead of a Monday festival is two nights, so the one-night plan has to be rebuilt around the weekday the date falls on.
Confirm the 2026 date with the organiser before a guest pays for a non-refundable night.
One night covers the ceremony, two cover the day
Sunday night, November 1, is the night that puts a guest in the park for the 8 a.m. installation and keeps them through the noon ceremony. A Monday checkout then forfeits the 5 to 9 p.m. entertainment unless the room is held into the afternoon.
Monday night, November 2, is the night that covers the noon ceremony, the 5 to 9 p.m. entertainment and the 10 p.m. clean-up, against a Tuesday checkout. For a guest whose fixed point is the ceremony, this is the single night that reaches the part of the day the organiser programmes for a crowd.
A guest who wants all four clocks inside one stay books both nights, Sunday and Monday.
Monday is the shoulder, so price it as the festival day
The festival sits on the Monday, which makes the festival night the shoulder of that weekend. Ask the property for a festival-day rate for Monday, November 2, and price the Sunday night ahead of it as a separate line.
A Saturday arrival is two weekend nights. For a guest whose only fixed point is the noon ceremony, the Monday night alone is the smaller booking, and it carries through to the entertainment.
No property in the hotelhuddle directory publishes a nightly rate, and the Marigold Project publishes no room block, no room code and no cut-off. Every figure here belongs to the property, so ask for it in writing.
The late checkout, past the entertainment
A checkout held past the 5 p.m. entertainment start is a written term. Standard checkouts fall in the morning, and the entertainment runs to 9 p.m. with clean-up at 10 p.m.
Two routes work. A Monday-night booking removes the question. A Sunday-night booking survives on a checkout guaranteed past 9 p.m., and that guarantee has to be confirmed in writing before the guest pays.
Where the guests sleep
The hotelhuddle directory holds four properties on the Mission Street and Guerrero Street corridor nearest the park. Straight-line distances from Potrero Del Sol Park: Prita Hotel, 2284 Mission Street, 1.7 kilometres; Frances Hotel, 2084 Mission Street, 2.0 kilometres; Union Hotel, 2030 Mission Street, 2.0 kilometres; Foundry Coliving, 550 Guerrero Street, 2.1 kilometres.
The Prita, Frances and Foundry records file the 94110 ZIP that contains the park. The Union Hotel record carries the street address with no ZIP.
Those are straight-line distances. Ask the property for the walking route. None of the four publishes a nightly rate in the directory.
A fifth nearby record, Hotel Sunrise at 447 Valencia Street, sits 2.3 kilometres out and files its postal code as CA 94103.
What the guest has to know before booking
The festival is free, open to the public, family-friendly, alcohol-free and fully accessible, with an address for access requests at info@themarigoldproject.org.
An altar space is assigned through an RSVP. The organiser asks guests to read the Altar Guidelines and sign up before the event, and the guidelines place an information table at the benches in front of the playground.
The rules set what a guest packs. Fire is not allowed and LED candles are preferred. Amplified sound is not allowed. Electricity is not supplied, staking and digging are prohibited, and every altar needs at least one gallon of water.
Guests bring flowers, 8-inch glass prayer candles and mementos for the community altars. Five altar stations follow the four directions and a centre: East for ancestral children, South for ancestral youth, West for adults, North for the earth and the ancestors, and a centre altar.
The front-desk script
Four questions settle the stay. Is there a festival-day rate for Monday, November 2? What does the Sunday night before it cost? Can the property hold a checkout past 9 p.m. on the Sunday booking, confirmed in writing? And what does the total come to with taxes and fees?
