The IHSAA boys swimming and diving state finals run Friday, Feb. 26 and Saturday, Feb. 27, 2027 at the IU Natatorium, 901 W. New York St. on the IU Indianapolis campus. The entry list closes roughly two weeks earlier, and that deadline is the date a booking decision should be attached to.
The deadline that starts the clock
IHSAA published its entry-list deadline for the 2026 boys cycle as Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, 4 p.m. ET, against finals on Feb. 27-28, 2026. That is 15 days ahead of the Friday preliminaries. Apply the same 15 days to the 2027 finals and the deadline lands on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2027. Treat Feb. 11 as the date by which the room is held and the travel plan is fixed.
Hold The Friday Night
Friday is the qualifying session. The clock published for the 2026 finals shows gates at 4:30 p.m. ET and swimming preliminaries at 6 p.m. ET. Saturday opens at 6:45 a.m. ET, diving preliminaries and semifinals run from 9 a.m. ET, and the championship and consolation finals in the swimming events start at 1 p.m. ET. The top 16 in each swimming event return from Friday. The top eight compete for the state title, and places nine through 16 swim the consolation heats. Diving is confined to Saturday.
A Friday night buys the preliminaries without a pre-dawn drive and leaves Saturday’s early gate minutes from the pool.
Price a no-overnight stay against the $6.00 pass
The Natatorium publishes a one-day pass at $6.00 in its sports complex membership ladder, alongside 15 visits for $55.00, 30 visits for $105.00 and 40 visits for $135.00. The one-day pass is sold only at the Natatorium Pro Shop Desk, the desk sits on the lower level, and questions go to 317-274-0336. The pass buys lap-swim and sports complex access rather than event admission.
Use it as the anchor for the day-trip option. A reader who drives in for the session and swims a recovery set at the same building pays $6.00 at the desk. Price the nightly rate against that figure plus the drive. Ask the hotel for the nightly rate, then price it against a same-day return trip.
What the second night buys
Saturday finishes in the afternoon, so the second night is a choice. Hold Friday first and add Saturday only when the drive home is longer than the finals. Two nights double the exposure to a non-refundable rate for one extra morning.
Where the rooms are
Visit Indy publishes the skywalk-connected package as 12 hotels and 5,200 rooms. The largest property by room count is the JW Marriott Indianapolis, with 1,005 sleeping rooms, 104,482 square feet of meeting space, and the anchor role in Marriott IndyPlace, the five interconnected Marriott-brand hotels holding 2,276 rooms. It stands at 10 South West Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204, and the hotelhuddle directory rates it four stars. Downtown carries more than 10,000 rooms within walking distance once the pipeline properties open.
Book the anchor first when the connected package matters, then compare a second downtown property on the same dates. Ask each hotel for the nightly rate, the cancellation deadline, and the gap between its flexible and non-refundable plans before committing a non-refundable night.
Tickets and the on-sale window
Admission runs through Eventlink on a mobile phone. IHSAA priced the 2026 finals at $15 per session general admission, with a limited number of $35 reserved tickets good for both days at a maximum of eight per purchase, and free admission for children five and younger in general admission seating. Sales opened Monday, Feb. 23, 2026 at 9 a.m. ET, four days before the Friday, Feb. 27, 2026 preliminaries. The 2027 ladder is unpublished. IHSAAtv carried the 2026 meet pay-per-view at $15 for Friday preliminaries alone or $20 for both days.
Parking at the venue
The Natatorium’s parking page states that campus parking is controlled by IU Indianapolis Parking and Transportation Services and names the sports garage as the most convenient option, routing visitors to the IU Indianapolis Parking Services visitors page for current rates. Members can buy a $35 monthly parking permit at the Pro Shop desk inside the Natatorium, reached by stairs on the east side of the building near the garage entrance.
How to book the block
One request reaches more than 50 hotels in the destination. Submission is free, responses typically arrive inside 24 to 72 hours, and the rate you pay is never marked up. Group rates start at 10 rooms per night, and some properties discount from five rooms. Submit Friday check-in and Sunday check-out, hold the Friday night first, then add Saturday as a separate decision before the Feb. 11 entry deadline. The Natatorium seats 4,700 and hosts more than 100,000 competitive swimmers and fans a year, so the finals weekend is one of the few February dates that concentrates demand downtown.
