The Indiana High School Athletic Association puts the girls swimming and diving state finals at the IU Natatorium on Friday, Feb. 12 and Saturday, Feb. 13, 2027. The venue sits on the IU Indianapolis campus at 901 W. New York St., Indianapolis. The same cycle sends the boys state finals back to the same pool on Feb. 26-27, 2027, so the two championship weekends bracket the month.

The February calendar in one block

The published 2026-27 dates run sectionals on Feb. 4 and Feb. 6, diving regionals on Feb. 9, and the girls state finals on Feb. 12-13. Boys sectionals follow on Feb. 18 and Feb. 20, boys diving regionals on Feb. 23, and the boys state finals on Feb. 26-27. IHSAA tournament swimming therefore occupies four consecutive February weekends. The sectional and regional rounds are staged at school sites, so the Natatorium itself carries the state finals on the second weekend of the four and again on the fourth.

Why The Friday Night Matters

Friday carries the swimming preliminaries. The clock published for the 2026 finals shows gates opening at 4:30 p.m. ET and preliminaries starting at 6 p.m. ET. Saturday starts earlier: gates open at 6:45 a.m. ET, diving preliminaries and semifinals begin at 9 a.m. ET, and the championship and consolation finals in the swimming events begin at 1 p.m. ET.

A Friday night puts you in the building for the preliminaries. Saturday’s 6:45 a.m. gate then sits a short walk from the bed. Friday is also the qualifying round. The top 16 in each swimming event return for Saturday, the top eight swim for the state title, and places nine through 16 fill the consolation heats. All diving takes place on Saturday.

What the second night buys

Saturday’s two sessions finish in the afternoon. The second night is a choice. Hold Friday first and add Saturday only if the drive home is longer than the finals. A two-night booking doubles the exposure to a non-refundable rate for one extra morning.

Where the rooms are

Visit Indy publishes the skywalk-connected package as 12 hotels and 5,200 rooms. The largest property by room count is the JW Marriott Indianapolis: 1,005 sleeping rooms, 104,482 square feet of meeting space, and the anchor of Marriott IndyPlace, the collection of five interconnected Marriott-brand hotels that holds 2,276 rooms. The hotel stands at 10 South West Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204, and the hotelhuddle directory rates it four stars.

Book the anchor first when the connected package matters, then compare a second downtown property on the same dates. Ask each hotel for the nightly rate, the cancellation deadline, and the gap between its flexible and non-refundable plans before committing a non-refundable night.

Tickets and the dates to watch

Admission runs through Eventlink on a mobile phone. IHSAA priced the 2026 finals at $15 per session general admission, with a limited number of $35 reserved tickets good for both days at a maximum of eight per purchase and free admission for children five and younger in general admission seating. Sales opened Monday, Feb. 9, 2026 at 9 a.m. ET. The 2027 ladder is not published yet. IHSAAtv carried the 2026 meet pay-per-view at $15 for Friday preliminaries alone or $20 for both days.

The entry list is the earlier clock. For the 2026 cycle IHSAA published Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026 as the entry-list deadline, 15 days ahead of the Friday, Feb. 13, 2026 preliminaries. Fifteen days before Friday, Feb. 12, 2027 is Thursday, Jan. 28, 2027. Treat that date as the point by which the room should be held.

Parking at the Natatorium

The Natatorium’s parking page states that campus parking is controlled by IU Indianapolis Parking and Transportation Services and names the sports garage as the most convenient option. It routes visitors to the IU Indianapolis Parking Services visitors page for current rates. Members can buy a $35 monthly parking permit at the Pro Shop desk inside the Natatorium, which sits on the lower level and is reached by stairs on the east side of the building near the garage entrance.

How to hold the room

One request reaches more than 50 hotels in the destination. Submission is free, responses typically arrive inside 24 to 72 hours, and the rate you pay is never marked up. Group rates start at 10 rooms per night, and some properties discount from five rooms. Submit Friday check-in and Sunday check-out, then test the Saturday night as a separate decision. The Natatorium seats 4,700 and hosts more than 100,000 competitive swimmers and fans a year, so a state finals weekend is one of the few February dates that concentrates demand downtown.
