January 3, 2027: the clock

The King Mango Strut runs on Sunday, January 3, 2027. The banana drop is at 2 p.m. The parade ends at 6 p.m. The streets of Coconut Grove close at 10 a.m. Admission is free.

The organiser has run the parade since 1982. Its about page calls the event a parody of the King Orange Bowl Jamboree Parade and lists more than 10,000 onlookers with hundreds of Strutters marching.

One night holds the closure

A Saturday, January 2 arrival parks the car inside the neighbourhood. The closure starts at 10 a.m. the next morning, and the car sits while the route clears.

A Sunday arrival has until 10 a.m. to park outside the closed streets. That window runs out while the units assemble.

The deck the organiser names first

The event page directs visitors to the Municipal Garage at Oak Avenue and Mary Street and describes it as a block from the parade route. The same line lists CocoWalk, Mayfair, Coconut Grove Playhouse, St. Stephens Episcopal Church and Coconut Grove Elementary School.

The page publishes the location and no rate. Ask the property for the garage's Sunday hours and its overnight policy, and put both on the confirmation.

The bike valet runs 12 to 5:30

Bike Coconut Grove runs free attended bicycle valet from 12 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 3. Attendants work in the courtyard of St. Stephen's church, and riders enter from the St. Stephen's parking lot on Main Highway.

Noon sits two hours after the street closure and two hours before the banana drop. The event page advises against bicycles, skateboards, roller blades and scooters on the route. The valet stores the bike, so a rider times the entry between noon and 2 p.m.

The route, and the hour after 6

The parade starts at the corner of Commodore Plaza and Main Highway. It turns left onto Main Highway, left onto Grand Avenue at CocoWalk, and left again at Commodore Plaza. The organiser adds a go-around clause: “If we are having too much fun we will go around again until we all fall down.”

Post-parade entertainment runs on Commodore Plaza directly after the parade. The day ends after 6 p.m.

Checkout against a 6 p.m. finish

Mayfair House Hotel & Garden, 3000 Florida Avenue, checks guests in at 4 p.m. and out at 11 a.m. It takes early check-in and late checkout as requests, subject to availability and additional charges.

The Mutiny Hotel, 2951 South Bayshore Drive, checks in from 4 p.m. and out before 11 a.m. Its FAQ suggests booking the night before for an arrival before 10 a.m. The deposit is the first night's room and tax. Cancellation at least 72 hours before arrival avoids forfeiture of that night, and advance purchase rates carry no refund. Valet parking is $30 a night plus tax, with no self-parking.

Three bookings cover the day.

Saturday only, late checkout requested. Ask for the hour and the charge at booking.

Saturday and Sunday nights. The exit moves to Monday morning.

Saturday only, car as the base. Out at 11 a.m., bags in the car at the Oak Avenue garage, back for the 2 p.m. drop.

The booking route for a Florida address

hotelhuddle.com's seller-of-travel notice, last updated October 18, 2026, reads that the service cannot process hotel booking requests from residents of or for travel to Florida, Hawaii, Iowa or Washington. The notice covers all hotelhuddle domains.

Book the Coconut Grove room with the property directly, and keep the written checkout hour and the garage terms on the confirmation.

A marching unit books as a group

Strutters enter as units. The participate page lists no entry fee, no audition and no special skill requirement, and it asks for an application form and a signed waiver.

A unit that travels with its people buys rooms together, and the Florida notice applies to that booking in the same way. Send the room list to the property.

The order

Book the Saturday night first, because the 10 a.m. closure sets the arrival. Confirm the Oak Avenue garage hours second. Ask for late checkout third, in writing, with the hour and the charge. If the answer is no, add the Sunday night.
