The cutoff is the only hard deadline
Kumoricon runs 13 to 15 November across Halls A, A1, B, C, D and E at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. Its four official room blocks close on 21 October 2026, three days after the hotels page was read on 18 October 2026.
The hotels page warns that blocks often sell out before the cutoff. When one room type is missing from a search, that type has gone. When no room appears at all, change the dates or lower the occupancy. Cancellations return rooms to the block up to the cutoff.
Four properties, four rates
Rates are per night before tax, as the hotels page publishes them. The Hyatt Regency Portland at 375 NE Holladay St lists $235 at 0.1 miles, across the street from the convention center and served by the MAX Blue, Red and Green lines. The Courtyard Portland Downtown/Convention Center at 435 NE Wasco St lists $214 at 0.2 miles, an 8-minute walk. Hotel Eastlund at 1021 NE Grand Ave lists $199 at 0.1 miles, across the street from the Hyatt. The DoubleTree by Hilton Portland at 1000 NE Multnomah St lists $185 at 0.4 miles, at MAX Blue Line stops served every 15 minutes.
Portland's occupancy taxes are 16.5 percent, and the published rates exclude taxes and fees. A $185 night bills at $215.53. A $199 night bills at $231.84. A $235 night bills at $273.78.
Step one: book through the block link
Each property has its own reservation link, and each link books at that property's block rate. Altonimbus Entertainment, the nonprofit that produces Kumoricon, may receive a small portion of reservations made inside a block. The page states that bookings made directly or through other sites may go uncounted.
Step two: reserve on a card that is not charged until arrival
A credit or debit card reserves the room, and the card is not charged until arrival. Accessibility requests go in the "Add special requests" field while reserving.
Step three: find where the 72 hours ends
Changes and cancellations inside an official block carry no fee and no penalty when the hotel receives them at least 72 hours before check-in. For a Friday 13 November check-in, that window closes on Tuesday 10 November. Later requests fall to the hotel's own terms. Two clocks run together: book by 21 October, and exit free until 10 November.
The $14 a night question
Hotel Eastlund lists $199 at 0.1 miles, across the street from the Hyatt. The DoubleTree lists $185 at 0.4 miles, at MAX Blue Line stops served every 15 minutes.
Two nights at the DoubleTree come to $431.05 after the 16.5 percent tax. Two nights at Eastlund come to $463.67. The gap is $32.62 for the stay, or $16.31 a night.
An attendee carrying a full costume and a prop case prices that walk higher than a backpack carrier does.
What the block does not do
The published rate is a starting rate. Room type, bedding and view stay with the hotel, and the block guarantees no specific room. Kumoricon lists Friday and Saturday as 8am to midnight and Sunday as 8am to 4pm, and its registration FAQ calls those hours approximate until the schedule is finalised. Badge pickup runs in person from Thursday 12 November through Sunday 15 November, and only the attendee can collect a badge.
The nights the schedule supports
Friday 13 and Saturday 14 with a Sunday checkout covers the full weekend. Add Thursday 12 only to reach an 8am Friday start without a badge line. Sunday programming ends at 4pm, and no property on the list publishes a checkout hour. Ask the hotel for a late checkout in writing before a Sunday departure.
The sequence is short. Reserve through the block link before 21 October, hold the room on a card that is not charged until arrival, and mark 10 November as the last free day to change or cancel. Booking questions go to hotel@kumoricon.org. Changes go to the hotel, because the convention's hotel team cannot view or amend a reservation.
