One night through the Mission

Lit Crawl SF runs Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. through the Mission District. The night closes the Litquake festival. The organiser counts 250 or more authors and close to 5,000 attendees at the event it calls the world's largest free pop-up literary event, and dates the format to 2004.

Sessions sit in bars, cafes, galleries and bookstores, and the roster reaches tattoo parlors, barbershops and laundromats.

The run of the night

The schedule holds three phases. Phase 1 runs 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., Phase 2 runs 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and Phase 3 runs 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. The 2026 schedule lists 51 numbered sessions across the three windows and a 52nd listing for the afterparty.

The afterparty starts at 9:00 p.m. at The Drawing Room: ANNEX, 599 Valencia Street, and the printed map runs it to 11:00 p.m.

Three daytime items open the day. The Mission Branch Library holds a 10:00 a.m. item, The Writers Grotto at 1663 Mission Street opens one at 2:00 p.m., and the Page Street pre-crawl tailgate opens at 3:00 p.m.

No RSVP and no advance list

The organiser's notice on the schedule states the terms: "No RSVPs are necessary, just show up! Seating + space are first come, first serve." The My Schedule tool is switched off for this edition.

The crawl produces footfall. A guest who travels for the Saturday run holds a bed for the night of October 24 and settles the rest of the plan late.

Where the crowd walks

Twenty-four venues appear on the schedule. The published addresses run from Martuni's at 4 Valencia Street to the Latin American Club at 3286 22nd Street, with the heaviest cluster on Valencia Street and Mission Street.

The printed map tags four addresses with an age rule. Martuni's at 4 Valencia Street, Blondie's Bar at 540 Valencia Street and the Latin American Club at 3286 22nd Street carry 21+, and Good Vibrations at 603 Valencia Street carries 18+. The Sched listing tags nine sessions 21+ and six sessions 18+.

The afterparty address at 599 Valencia Street sits mid-corridor, close to the Phase 1 and Phase 2 rooms.

Mission-adjacent inventory

The network's own directory carries pages for properties inside the 94110 ZIP that holds the crawl corridor. Union Hotel sits at 2030 Mission Street with a 2-star tier. Frances Hotel sits at 2084 Mission Street, Prita Hotel at 2284 Mission Street, and Foundry Coliving at 550 Guerrero Street, which lists +1-415-791-1940. The last three carry no star tier.

All four sit inside the crawl's ZIP code. A guest at any of the four reaches the Mission Street rooms of Phase 1 on foot.

Hold flexible cancellation for the weekend

The crawl charges no admission and takes no deposit. Ask each property to state its cancellation deadline in writing and to quote the difference between its flexible rate and its non-refundable rate.

Ask one more question before the hold: the last date to shorten the stay. A guest who stays through Sunday holds two nights, and a guest who leaves on Sunday morning holds one.

What to tell the guest

Give the clock before the address. The run opens at 5:00 p.m., each phase lasts an hour, and a 30-minute gap sits between one phase and the next. Rooms fill on a first-come basis, so a guest who wants a seat arrives at the start of a phase.

Name the age-tagged venues before the guest picks one, and name the afterparty venue and its street so the guest walks from the final phase.
