One Day, One Designation
The NCA Holiday Classic runs one day at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas. The date is Sunday, December 13, 2026. The venue lists Exhibit Hall C and C Ballroom and names Ballroom C1-C4 and the C100 meeting rooms in its event locations block.
Varsity’s card for the Dallas date prints a Housing Designation row, and the value beside it reads Housing Rewards. That row decides which guarantee argument applies.
What the Designation Means
Varsity splits its housing into three labels. Housing Required covers events where hotels hold blocks under attrition terms. Housing Offered routes attendees to the TTS Live! link at wholesale prices. Housing Rewards sits as an optional route through Team Travel Source, with blocks Varsity describes as carrying team-friendly terms and rewards for booking partner hotels.
One rule follows the label. Varsity states that there are no coaches blocks for Housing Rewards and Housing Offered events, and that the general Team Travel Source blocks are the booking route. The one-coaches-room-per-team allowance belongs to Housing Required events.
The Date the Block Opened
Housing Offered and Housing Rewards opened together. Team Travel Source’s 2026-2027 launch table gives Tuesday, September 8, 2026 as the booking start for both, with links public at 11 a.m. CST and 12 p.m. EST.
That date sits 44 days behind this read, and the inventory has been open to other programmes since.
The Guarantee Runs to a Cut-Off
Team Travel Source publishes a Lowest Rate Guarantee and applies it to some events. The guarantee runs until the contracted cut-off date, which the partner places at approximately one month before the event. Rooms released at that date return to the hotel, and the hotel may sell what remains at rates the guarantee does not cover.
For a December 13 competition, that cut-off lands around the middle of November.
What the Comparison Has to Match
The rate has to sit at a participating partner hotel listed on the partner site. The dates have to match the contracted dates. The room type has to match and be guaranteed, so a two-double quote does not meet a king suite rate. Cancellation terms have to match, and a non-refundable or pay-now rate fails that test. Amenities count: breakfast, a waived resort fee, free parking. Occupancy counts, because a hotel may charge for a third or fourth adult. Booking fees paid through the partner stay outside the comparison.
The Rates the Guarantee Refuses
The partner names seven ineligible classes. Rates on Expedia, Travelocity, Hotels.com, Priceline and similar agency sites are out. Membership rates such as AAA and AARP are out. Corporate negotiated, government and hotel-employee or friends-and-family rates are out. Prepaid and non-refundable rates are out. So are rates for events where the guarantee is not available or advertised.
One further class covers the tiers. TTS Live! rates are based on demand and subject to change, and TTS Live events do not qualify. TTS Live is the Housing Offered route, and this card carries Housing Rewards.
Where the Block Binds Nobody
Rewards is an option. Stay Smart sets no minimum night stay, though an individual hotel may. A programme can forward the booking link to parents so each family books its own room.
Varsity publishes exemptions: a family holding enough loyalty points to cover the booking, military and hotel-employee discounts, and an owned vacation home. A rental or an Airbnb does not qualify. Commuter status is automatic inside 75 miles, and Prep and Novice teams get 150 miles.
The Night Count and the Venue
The competition occupies one day, and the venue publishes no clock. The shortest booking the calendar supports is one night, Saturday December 12 into Sunday December 13. A family that wants to be inside before the doors open has to ask Varsity for the start time.
The convention center publishes two room counts. More than 35,000 hotel rooms sit in Dallas, and more than 15,000 of them are walkable from the building. The Omni Dallas Hotel holds 1,001 rooms and stands adjacent.
Driving in costs $20 at the on-site garage at Memorial Drive and South Griffin Street, or $17 at Lot C on South Lamar Street. ACE Parking runs both, and pricing is per day and per entry with no in and out. Dallas Love Field sits seven miles from the building, and DFW is about 30 minutes away.
The Booking Order
Take the partner rate for December 12 and the property’s own rate for the same night. Ask the hotel to quote the same room type, the same dates and the same cancellation terms. Compare the two numbers, and report a lower qualifying rate to the partner while the guarantee window is open.
For a gym bringing several families, a group request changes the arithmetic. hotelhuddle notifies 50 or more hotels on one request and returns offers in 24 to 72 hours with no commission added to the rate. Group pricing starts at 10 rooms a night.
Get the cancellation deadline in writing before paying anything. The guarantee closes about a month before the competition, and the block holds its own cut-off.
