A free three-hour Saturday in Hall D

The Oregon Burn Center Safety Fair and Chili Cookoff runs Saturday, February 13, 2027, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Hall D at the Portland Expo Center, 2025 North Expo Road, Portland, Oregon 97217. Admission is free. Parking is free, and the venue page prints the arrangement as "Parking compliments of Oregon Burn Center."

The organiser's page prints the same window: Saturday Feb. 13th, 2027, 12pm to 3pm, at the Portland Expo Center.

The trip this event supports

The fair runs three hours in the middle of a Saturday. An arrival on Saturday morning and a checkout on Sunday morning covers the event in one night. A Friday arrival adds a night with no event hour, because the hall opens at noon.

Free admission and free parking leave the drive home at 3 p.m. as the cost of the day. A room near the MAX Yellow Line moves that drive to Sunday morning.

The fare

TriMet charges an adult $2.80 for a 2½-hour ticket and stops charging after $5.60 in a day. A Saturday round trip costs $5.60 at the ceiling. A tap of a phone or a contactless bankcard on the green Hop reader applies the cap automatically. The same fare covers TriMet buses, MAX, WES, Portland Streetcar and C-TRAN local and regional buses.

Reduced fares run $1.40 for 2½ hours with a $2.80 day cap. The rate covers riders 65 and older, Medicare holders, people with disabilities, people who qualify on income, and veterans and active-duty military, with proof of eligibility when boarding. Youth aged 7 to 17 pay $1.40. Children 6 and under ride free with a paying passenger.

The station

The venue page states that the Yellow Line's Expo Center station is a short walk from the venue entrance. Bike racks sit next to the MAX stop and outside Halls D and E.

Inside the hall

Fire departments and EMS teams from across the region cook chili and compete for two prizes. The Championship Trophy goes to the judges' choice. A championship belt goes to the people's choice. Visitors buy a tasting package to sample every team and vote, or taste a few favourites à la carte. The organiser publishes no price for either.

The hall carries face painting, games and prizes for children, an emergency equipment display, a judges' panel and free burn-prevention education. In 2026 the organiser counted 900 community members through the door, 14 chili teams and 22 community agencies. The 2027 page carries no forecast.

National Burn Awareness Week

The organiser places the fair inside National Burn Awareness Week, which it describes as the first full week of February every year. The Oregon Burn Center is the only specialised burn center in the state and treats patients across Oregon and a multi-state region. The 2026 judges' choice went to the Spicy Stallions from the Oregon Burn Center staff. The people's choice went to Pumping Up the Heat from the Legacy Emanuel ECMO team.

What to confirm before booking

Ask the property for its rate, its cancellation deadline and its checkout time in writing. No page on this event publishes a rate for the date. Ask whether it holds luggage after an 11 a.m. checkout, and how far it sits from the nearest Yellow Line stop. Confirm with the organiser that the parking comp applies to the 2027 fair.

One request across five brands

hotelhuddle.com sends one request to 50+ hotels per destination and returns competing quotes in 24 to 72 hours. Submission is free and the guest pays the property directly. The network lists 103,857 hotels across 46 states and quotes 15 to 40 percent off published rates. bookMyTeam.org defines a group rate as a block of 10 or more rooms.
