Oregon DECA opens the State Career Development Conference on Saturday, February 6, 2027 and closes it on Monday, February 8. The conference page publishes that span.
Nearly 1,000 students attend. Each must join DECA before competing, and each must sleep in the official hotel for the conference. A Saturday-to-Monday span means two nights. The roster and the rooming list run on separate clocks. File them out of order and the second clock runs out first.
The roster runs first
Oregon DECA asks chapters to submit the initial membership roster to DECA Inc. by November 15. That date sits 83 days ahead of the opening session.
The FAQ sets the eligibility rule. Membership stays open through the school year, and the deadline for competing at a district or state conference is that conference's registration deadline.
Two ratios decide the bed count. The minimum chapter size is ten student members and one adviser. Oregon DECA runs an adult-to-student ratio of 1:15. A 40-student chapter needs three adults under that rule, for a delegation of 43.
Registration fixes the headcount, not the bed
The conference page lists Early Bird Registration and Regular Registration as TBA, so no conference fee can be quoted from the source today.
Three terms govern that money. Oregon DECA publishes no refunds and no cancellations. The chapter pays for the number of students it registers, so a student who drops after submission still bills the chapter. Substitutions are allowed, a small substitution fee applies, and a swap protects the payment.
Oregon DECA does not coordinate travel. The FAQ hands that work to the adviser and the school administration.
Every participant stays at the conference hotel for the duration of the conference, whatever the distance from home. The adviser attends and stays for the whole conference.
The room rate sits behind a member login
The conference hotel is the Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center, 375 NE Holladay Street.
The hotel information form (Form A1) and the rooming list template (Form A2) sit in a member community that requires an account. Their room rate, submission date and per-room occupancy cap are unpublished to a public reader as of this reading. Request both forms from the adviser or the state office on the first day of term, because the rooming list is the document the hotel works from.
What the same hotel publishes for that weekend
The convention center calendar lists Spotlight Dance Cup on February 5 to 7 in the Oregon Ballroom of the same building. Its Portland page reads feb 04-07 with a Thursday added, and it names the Hyatt Regency Portland at 375 NE Holladay Street as the event hotel at a group rate of $149 nightly, with a cutoff date of January 15.
That $149 is the only room rate published in the building for that weekend. It sets a reference point for any comparison a chapter asks the property to run.
Two payment rails and two addresses
Conference money and room money leave the school by different routes.
Conference payment goes to P.O. Box 1440, Owasso, OK 74055, as one check for the entire delegation drawn on a school account. The FAQ states three refusals: no credit cards, no purchase orders, no multiple checks from individuals.
The hotel payment route and its deadline arrive with Form A1. Request both before the chapter meeting where the budget is approved.
Price the tax line yourself
Portland levies a 6 percent city transient lodgings tax, a 5.5 percent Multnomah County tax and a 3 percent tourism improvement district fee. The three together add 14.5 percent to the room rate. Oregon levies no sales tax.
At the $149 nightly figure the dance block publishes, ten rooms for two nights come to $2,980. The 14.5 percent adds $432.10, for $3,412.10. Ask the hotel to quote its tax line in writing before the check goes out.
Monday checkout, Monday session
Two nights end at a Monday morning checkout, and Monday February 8 is a session day.
The delegate carries bags from breakfast. The convention center rents lockers in three locations through LocketGo, reserved on a phone with a credit card. The hotel holds bags at the bell desk.
Settle the bag plan before the rooming list goes in. The template asks for special instructions.
The venue page lists the building hire through February 9. The organiser lists the conference through February 8. Book the delegates to the organiser's span.
