Oregon Wine Symposium: the $159 Eastlund block closes Jan. 11

The Oregon Wine Symposium runs Tuesday, February 2 and Wednesday, February 3, 2027 in Halls D-E at the Oregon Convention Center. The organiser expects more than 1,200 growers, winemakers and wine business leaders across those two days. One hotel publishes a rate for the week. The Hotel Eastlund holds $159 a night plus tax under the Symposium Room Block, and that block closes Monday, January 11, 2027.

The block, line for line

The Symposium logistics page states the terms: book by Monday, January 11, 2027 for $159 a night plus tax, $30 a night parking and complimentary WiFi, with rates available three days before and after the event. The page's booking button opens the Eastlund's own reservation engine with the block code ORWINE27 loaded and the dates set to a February 1 arrival and a February 4 departure.

The hotel's own booking terms carry a second parking figure. Overnight valet parking reads $43.00 a night. Event parking runs $30.00 for up to eight hours. The Symposium page states $30 a night inside the block. Ask the hotel to confirm in writing which charge applies to a block reservation, and keep the answer with the confirmation.

What two nights cost

The City of Portland publishes the lodging tax at 13 percent through December 31, 2026 and 14.25 percent from January 1, 2027. A separate 3 percent Tourism Improvement District fee applies to overnight stays, and the city states that it reaches the guest bill. Both Symposium nights fall after the rate change, so 14.25 percent lands on this bill.

On $159 a night, that is $22.66 in lodging tax and $4.77 in district fee, for $186.43 a night. A Monday February 1 arrival and a Wednesday February 3 departure gives two nights at $372.86 in room and tax. Parking at the $30 block figure adds $60 across the stay, which puts room, tax and parking at $432.86.

The schedule sets the nights

The program page publishes a tentative clock. Tuesday runs educational programming from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with lunch included, the trade show from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and happy hour from 4:45 to 6 p.m. Wednesday runs programming from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with lunch included, and the trade show from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

An 8:30 a.m. start on the Tuesday makes Monday, February 1 the check-in night for anyone travelling into Portland. Programming closes at 5 p.m. on the Wednesday. A third night on February 3 holds the room through that close, and the Eastlund applies a $50 early departure fee when a guest checks out before the booked departure date.

What the block does not cover

The Eastlund checks guests in at 4:00 p.m. and checks them out at 12:00 p.m. Cancellation runs 48 hours before arrival, by 4:00 p.m., and that term does not apply to prepaid reservations. Check-in places an authorization on the card for room rate plus tax plus $75.00 a night for incidentals. Guests must be 21 to register. A room holds four guests, and a third and fourth occupant each carry a $10.00 charge.

The alternatives carry no published rate

The Symposium logistics page lists the nearby properties. Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center sits 4 minutes away, one block out. Courtyard by Marriott Portland Downtown/Convention Center sits 6 minutes away, four blocks out. KEX Portland sits 8 minutes out, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Portland 10 minutes out at 0.5 miles, and Jupiter NEXT 16 minutes out at 0.7 miles. None of those properties publishes a rate for February 1 to 3, 2027, so each price has to come back from the property as a quote.

Two details lift the demand on those nights. The Oregon Wine Board 2027 meets in Portland Ballroom 251 on the same two days, per the venue calendar. The Symposium runs its trade show in Halls D-E on the same days as its programming, which puts buyers and exhibitors in one building.

What to do before January 11

Registration opens in early November, per the organiser's register page. Put January 11 on the calendar and book the Eastlund through the block link while the rate holds. The page states the rate is available three days before and three days after the event, so a Sunday January 31 arrival prices inside the same window.

Ask for the parking charge and the cancellation term in writing on the confirmation. Ask the property to state the group release date, which is the day the hotel returns unbooked rooms to general inventory. A team that needs block space beyond the release date negotiates that date at signing.

A request for proposal through hotelhuddle reaches 50+ hotels in the destination, carries no fee to submit and no markup on the rate, and returns responses in 24 to 72 hours. Most hotels set group rates at 10 or more rooms a night, and some go to 5 rooms depending on season.

The date

January 11, 2027. Two days of programming, an 8:30 a.m. Tuesday start, and one published rate for the week. Book inside the block and hold $159 as the number.
