The Functional Fabric Fair powered by Performance Days runs at the Oregon Convention Center on October 27 and 28, with a Day 0 conference on Monday, October 26. The show floor is Pre-Function Lobby D. The organiser secured a limited number of reduced-rate rooms through Connections Housing and released them first come, first served, with a reservation deadline of October 1, 2026. That date sits 17 days in the past, so the question now is whether a group-rate room remains and who can tell you.
Two facts decide the answer. Show Management contracts those rooms itself and states that its official hotels will not honour direct reservations, so a front-desk call buys no part of the group rate. The routes are the housing company’s live site and its phone line at 702-476-6976.
Search the housing site before you call
Connections Housing runs the reservation page for the show, and it opens on a search form: attendee type (Attendee, Exhibitor, or an access code), check-in and check-out dates, room count and guest count. The result is a hotel list sortable by name, price or distance to the venue. The organiser describes the site as available 24/7 with real-time availability, full hotel descriptions, amenity listings, distances from each hotel to the venue, and maps. It also states that acknowledgements are emailed within seconds of a confirmed reservation.
The site’s live availability is the record of whether a group-rate room remains. If your arrival returns no room, the phone line is the way to ask about a released night or a different property.
Book three nights if you attend Day 0
The schedule fixes the nights. Day 0, the OIA Catalyst Conference, runs Monday, October 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The show days run Tuesday, October 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday, October 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The housing site’s own event window reads Monday, October 26 to Wednesday, October 28. That is two nights, and it leaves a Day 0 attendee without a bed the night before an 8:00 a.m. start. Ask for Sunday, October 25 arrival with a Wednesday, October 28 departure: three nights, and the arrangement that reaches Monday morning. Attendees working the show floor alone need Monday to Wednesday, two nights.
What the group booking carries
Connections Housing publishes several terms to weigh against a public rate. It charges no advance deposit on any reservation. It requires no contract for exhibitor or group bookings. Show Management states that its contracted rates are the lowest available over the show dates and that those rates reach only attendees and exhibitors who book through the official housing company.
Groups needing 10 or more rooms submit a block request through the organiser’s reserve form, and the housing team places the block at one of your preferred hotels. Nightly rates are not printed on the travel page, which is why the housing search sorts by price. Compare the group figure with a refundable public rate for the same nights, and treat the gap as the cost of the block’s terms.
The housing warning is current
The organiser warns that companies other than Connections claim an affiliation with the show, and states that reservations made through any other agency sit at the attendee’s own risk. Report any such approach to Show Management at functionalfabricfair@connectionshousing.com. That warning is the second reason to open the published link instead of a search result.
Register the badge
Admission is trade-exclusive and open to verified designers, product, purchasing and material managers. The attendee badge is free and covers the exhibit hall and Expert Talks on October 27 and 28.
Register before you book the room. The badge sets the days you attend, and the nights follow from those days.
Arrive without a car
The venue sits at 777 NE Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, eight miles from Portland International Airport. TriMet MAX light rail stops 300 times a day near the front door. The adult fare is $2.80 for a 2½-hour ticket, and tapping the same card again caps the day at $5.60. Children 6 and under ride free with a paying passenger.
Driving costs more during a show. The underground garage charges $15 for up to 18 hours and applies a dynamic rate of $15 to $25 at entry during events, with no in-and-out privileges. The garage opens daily at 6:00 a.m. and prohibits overnight parking. The building is cashless throughout, including the parking booths, so carry a card.
The order to work in
Search the housing site for October 25 to 28 if you attend Day 0. Call 702-476-6976 if the group rate is gone. Register the badge now, match it to the days you will attend, and check the cashless rule before you pack.
