Two nights carry the weekend
The American Northwest – Portland – Nationals – DI/DII runs December 5 and 6, 2026 in Hall D at the Oregon Convention Center. Both competition days open the doors at 8:00 a.m. Book Friday December 4 and Saturday December 5, then check out Sunday December 6 after the last routine.
Three details decide whether those two nights work: the checkout hour the hotel grants on Sunday, where the car sleeps, and whether the team travels on a group rate.
Why Friday and Saturday carry the weekend
Doors at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday December 5 set the first morning. A Friday-night room puts the team in the district with the drive finished. The Saturday night carries the same team into Sunday's 8:00 a.m. doors.
The venue lists December 5 to 6 in Hall D. Varsity lists 12/5/2026 to 12/6/2026 at the Oregon Convention Center. The ticket vendor prints Sat, Dec 5th, 2026, 8:00 AM through Sun, Dec 6th, 2026, 11:59 PM PST.
The venue card's door lines read "Sunday, 12/5" and "Monday, 12/6". December 5, 2026 is a Saturday. The dates and the 8:00 a.m. opening are the parts every source agrees on.
What a Sunday night buys
The competition ends Sunday. A room held that night serves a Monday morning with no routines in it.
Sunday is the arrival night for a second audience. The convention center calendar lists the Oregon Business Plan Leadership Summit in the Portland Ballroom on Monday December 7, with on-site registration opening at 7:30 a.m. Those attendees travel in on Sunday. The district carries both groups that night.
Ask for the 2:00 p.m. checkout in writing
The Sunday programme runs past the morning. Ask the reservation desk for a 2:00 p.m. checkout on Sunday December 6 and get the answer onto the confirmation.
The desk can grant it free, grant it against a fee, or refuse it. The venue rents short-term lockers as a fallback. The Oregon Convention Center's LocketGo lockers take a mobile reservation and a credit card, and they sit in three locations across the building.
Check the room against the garage clock
The convention center garage is underground, with entries on NE Lloyd Boulevard at P1 and NE First Avenue at P2. It holds 800 spaces, opens daily at 6:00 a.m., and prohibits overnight parking.
That rule sets the hotel question for a family driving in. The garage holds a car for the day. The car sleeps wherever the team sleeps. Ask the property three questions before booking: whether its garage or lot permits overnight parking, what it charges per night, and whether the car can stay past Sunday checkout.
Clearance is 7 feet on P1 and 9 feet on P2, so a roof box fits on P2. Parking is $15 for up to 18 hours with no in-and-out privileges, with additional fees beyond 18 hours, and a dynamic $15 to $25 is charged at entry on event days. The booths take cards and touchless payment.
A team in the garage by 6:30 a.m. on Saturday walks in for the 8:00 a.m. doors. The venue states that availability is first come, first served and not guaranteed.
Skip the garage entirely
TriMet's MAX light rail stops 300 times a day near the front door and connects riders to downtown, the airport and the surrounding neighbourhoods. The Portland Streetcar's A Loop reaches NE Martin Luther King and Hoyt every 15 minutes. Bus line 6 stops at NE Martin Luther King and Holladay.
A team that arrives by MAX removes the parking, clearance and overnight questions. The airport sits eight miles away.
Buy the tickets the morning they open
Tickets for the 2026 edition go on sale Friday November 20, 2026 at 7:00 a.m. PST. The event takes no cash at the door. Every ticketed person must be present at the admissions desk to receive a wristband, so a coach cannot collect a block of wristbands for a team.
Refunds are granted only when requested before the doors open to spectators. The ticket page reads 5 years of age and under are free and need no ticket. The venue card reads children under 5 years old are free.
The organiser's event card carries a Housing Rewards designation, and its housing link routes to Team Travel Source, Varsity's housing partner. A team that books through that programme collects the reward.
Send the group request with the dates already fixed
A gym, studio or school travelling with ten or more rooms can put the stay out to bid. hotelhuddle sends one request to 50 or more hotels in the destination, free to submit. Hotels pay a commission on accepted bookings. The platform states that hotels answer with quotes in 24 to 72 hours.
hotelhuddle's group brand takes bookings of 10 or more rooms, and the platform states that most hotels set that floor.
Write the brief before the bids land. Give the dates as Friday December 4 to Sunday December 6, and state the 2:00 p.m. Sunday checkout as a requirement. Ask each property to confirm overnight parking for one vehicle per room. A bid that answers all three is a room the team can use.
The booking, in order
Two nights, Friday and Saturday. A Sunday checkout at 2:00 p.m., confirmed in writing. A parking answer that covers the night. Tickets on November 20. Each step fits inside two nights.
