Booking Sisel's Tampa convention: order of operations

Sisel International's 20th anniversary convention occupies the Tampa Convention Center at 333 S Franklin St. The City of Tampa card reads Thu, Jan 21 2027, 7am to Sat, Jan 23 2027, 11:59pm. That span is the listing window. The card publishes no host hotel, no room block, no nightly rate and no reservation cut-off.

The card describes brand updates, educational sessions and networking, closing with an awards gala and dinner. Sisel's US shop site carries no convention page and no lodging detail, so the venue's hotel roster is the inventory list behind the event.

Two nights holds the programme, three holds the gala

A Thursday check-in with a Saturday checkout is two nights, Jan. 21 and Jan. 22. That booking ends on the morning of the closing dinner. A Saturday night adds the gala and a Sunday checkout. An attendee who leaves before the dinner keeps the two nights and asks the desk to hold bags through Saturday.

Why the sky bridge goes first

Embassy Suites by Hilton Tampa Downtown Convention Center, 513 S. Florida Ave., (813) 769-8300. The venue lists this property as connected to the Convention Center via Sky Bridge, and it is the only entry on the roster marked connected. It carries no distance figure.

The covered walk takes the weather and the parking garage out of both ends of a session day.

The four addresses behind it

Tampa Marriott Water Street, 700 S. Florida Ave., 0.2 miles, (813) 221-4900. JW Marriott Tampa Water Street, 505 Water Street, 0.2 miles, (813) 221-4950. The Westin Tampa Waterside, 725 S. Harbour Island Blvd., 0.3 miles, (813) 229-5000. Hilton Tampa Downtown, 211 N. Tampa Street, 0.5 miles, (813) 204-3000.

The venue's FAQ places the Embassy Suites and both Marriotts directly across the street from the building. The same page gives the Westin at 0.3 miles and the Hilton at 0.5 miles.

Add Wednesday if the 7 a.m. start matters

A Wednesday, Jan. 20 arrival is the way to be in the room before a 7 a.m. Thursday window opening. That turns the stay into four nights. The same Wednesday is the first day of Tampa Build Expo in the building. The city card runs that event Wed, Jan 20 2027, 7am to Thu, Jan 21 2027, 11:59pm.

Hold a flexible rate until a block appears

The convention publishes no block and no cut-off, so there is no deadline to meet and no group rate to protect. Book the two convention nights on a rate you can cancel at no cost, then add the Saturday night once the dinner is on your calendar. Ask the property for the cancellation deadline in writing and for the nightly gap between its flexible and non-refundable rate.

What the tax lines do to a comparison

Florida taxes transient rentals at 6 percent under Fla. Stat. s. 212.03. Hillsborough County's Tourist Development Tax is 6 percent on short-term accommodation. The county also carries a 1.5 percent discretionary sales surtax, per the Department of Revenue's DR-15DSS schedule.

Three lines apply to the room, so two quotes a few dollars apart can change order. Ask each property for the all-in figure and the name of every line it charges.

No property on the venue roster publishes a nightly rate for this week. hotelhuddle sends one request to 50+ hotels, takes responses in 24 to 72 hours, adds no markup to the rate, and covers group rates from 10 rooms a night with some hotels discounting from five.

Parking and the streetcar

Tampa Convention Center Parking Garage, 141 E. Brorein Street: 454 spaces, 11 ADA spaces, 2 EV chargers, maximum height 6 feet 6 inches, event rate $5.00 to $50.00, non-event $3 per hour to an $18 daily maximum, and no overnight parking. Pam Iorio at 301 Channelside Drive (790 spaces) and Fort Brooke at 107 N. Franklin Street (556 spaces) carry the same two ladders and allow a vehicle overnight to 6 a.m.

Front Drive holds 36 metered spaces at $4 an hour from 8 a.m. to midnight. The TECO Line Streetcar is fare free and stops at Dick Greco Plaza, station 10, at Franklin Street and Old Water Street.

The re-shop triggers

Four changes justify reopening the rate: a published Sisel block, a published nightly rate, a stated cut-off, or a downtown that has sold out for the week. Until one appears, the flexible rate holds the three nights the gala needs.

Before you book

Four checks. Confirm the closing dinner with Sisel, because the city card names a gala and publishes no start time. Confirm the sky bridge runs across all three days. Confirm which garage your hotel recommends, because the TCC garage takes no overnight vehicle. And confirm the rate includes every tax line.
