Starpower brings a national talent competition to the Oregon Convention Center on 6 and 7 March 2027, in Halls A-A1. The organiser's 2027 schedule lists Portland across 5 to 7 March, with a registration deadline of 5 February 2027. A family booking rooms reads both lines before it picks a night.
Two Nights Cover the Published Span
5 March 2027 is a Friday, 6 March a Saturday and 7 March a Sunday. The organiser's span opens Friday, so the room plan runs Friday and Saturday nights with a Sunday checkout.
A family that books Saturday alone arrives on the morning of a competition day, with a 90-minute call ahead of the first scheduled performance.
What the Deposit Holds
Starpower requires a $10 deposit per routine, non-refundable, paid by 1 October 2026. Reservations run first-come, first-served. An event that fills before that date gives studios 10 days from the call to submit deposits. Spots without a deposit are released without correspondence.
Entries are confirmed only when fully paid and the music is uploaded. Finalised routine information is due 30 days out, which is 3 February 2027.
The deposit holds a place in the competition. It holds nothing at a hotel. A studio that treats the deposit as the room trigger books on a payment that never touched lodging.
The Three Price Tiers
Starpower sets entry pricing by the date a studio finalises registration. Tier 1 applies at 60 or more days before the event, Tier 2 at 30 to 59 days, Tier 3 at 29 days or fewer. For a 5 March event, Tier 1 closes at the end of 4 January 2027 and Tier 2 closes at the end of 3 February 2027. The rulebook publishes the three bands and no dollar figure, so ask the organiser for the prices before the studio budget reaches parents.
The Block Releases 11 February
Starpower's Portland hotel panel names Hyatt Regency Portland at the Oregon Convention Center, 375 NE Holladay Street, at $219 a night. The release date is 11 February 2027, and the booking link carries the group code G-MCR0.
Starpower builds its schedules 7 to 10 days out. For this event that window opens around 23 February. The block releases 12 days before the schedule exists, so the room decision lands on dates the organiser has already fixed.
The Order That Holds
Deposit the routines first. Finalise entries by 4 January to reach Tier 1. Price the room against $219 before 11 February. Read the schedule in the last week of February and set the arrival time.
Payments and Changes
Starpower takes credit cards and e-checks, with no processing fee on either. E-checks close 45 days before the event, which is 19 January 2027. An outstanding balance is charged automatically one week out, around 26 February.
Changes inside 30 days cost $10 each, inside 20 days $25, and inside 10 days $50. A change inside 30 days must arrive by email from the studio director. Starpower offers no refund for a cancellation. An injured dancer needs a doctor's note.
Arrival Arithmetic
Performers arrive 90 minutes before the first scheduled performance, and each routine checks in with the backstage manager five routines ahead. The organiser warns the event can run an hour ahead or behind. A first routine at 9 a.m. puts the family in the hall by 7:30 a.m. Families driving from outside Portland book Friday night for that call time.

Before the Block Closes
hotelhuddle sends one request to 50 or more Portland hotels. Hotels answer in 24 to 72 hours with group rates and terms. Submitting costs nothing, the guest pays the property directly, and the service adds no markup. Group rates start at 10 rooms a night, and some properties quote from five.
Ask every property for three numbers. The release date of the group rate. The cancellation deadline on the two nights. The parking charge, with an answer on overnight permission. The venue's own garage charges a dynamic $15 to $25 at entry on event days and bans overnight parking.
