Tampa Build Expo runs two exhibit days at the Tampa Convention Center, Wednesday Jan. 20 and Thursday Jan. 21, 2027. The exhibit floor opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 3 p.m. on both days. Complimentary classes start at 9:30 a.m. Registration is required, and the floor and classes are complimentary for industry professionals.
Ten exhibit hours across two days makes a one-night booking the operative one. The room decision is which of the building's neighbours gets that night.
The organiser's travel page carries one lodging control, Hotel Recommendations. It opens Visit Tampa Bay's stay page at visittampabay.com/stay. The page carries no host property, no nightly rate and no cut-off.
The venue keeps its own hotel list
Tampa Convention Center publishes Hotels Near Tampa Convention Center at tampa.gov/tcc/nearby-hotels. Every entry carries a street address and a phone number, and all but one carry a distance from the building. Embassy Suites by Hilton Tampa Downtown Convention Center at 513 S. Florida Ave. is the exception, listed as connected to the Convention Center via Sky Bridge.
First: the sky bridge
Embassy Suites by Hilton Tampa Downtown Convention Center, 513 S. Florida Ave., (813) 769-8300. The connection matters across a 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. day, because a covered walk removes the weather and the garage from both ends of it. The venue lists no distance for this entry.
Second: the 0.2-mile pair
Tampa Marriott Water Street, 700 S. Florida Ave., listed 0.2 miles from the Convention Center, (813) 221-4900. JW Marriott Tampa Water Street, 505 Water Street, also 0.2 miles, (813) 221-4950. The venue's FAQ puts both directly across the street from the building, and a 10 a.m. opening leaves margin for either one.
Third: the Westin at 0.3
The Westin Tampa Waterside, 725 S. Harbour Island Blvd., 0.3 miles, (813) 229-5000. Harbour Island sits on the far side of the Garrison Channel, so the route to the hall crosses water. The venue states the distance and no walking time.
The 0.5-mile ring and beyond
Four properties share the 0.5-mile mark. The Tampa EDITION, 500 Channelside Drive, (813) 221-4600. Hilton Tampa Downtown, 211 N. Tampa Street, (813) 204-3000. Hyatt Place/Hyatt House, 325 N. Florida Ave., (813) 616-1234. ROOST Tampa, 1050 Water Street, (813) 945-4890.
Past that ring: ALOFT Tampa Downtown, 100 W. Kennedy Blvd., 0.6 miles, (813) 898-8000, then Le Méridien Tampa, The Courthouse, 601 N Florida Ave., 0.7 miles, (813) 221-9555, and Hotel Tampa Riverwalk, 200 N. Ashley Drive, 0.8 miles, (813) 223-2222.
One night covers both show days
A Wednesday Jan. 20 check-in with a Thursday checkout puts you in the room for both exhibit days. It holds through a Thursday departure if the desk keeps your bag until the floor closes at 3 p.m. A Tuesday Jan. 19 arrival is the alternative for a 9:30 a.m. Wednesday class.
What the tax lines add
Florida taxes transient rentals at 6 percent under Fla. Stat. s. 212.03. Hillsborough County's Tourist Development Tax is 6 percent on short-term accommodation. The county also carries a 1.5 percent discretionary sales surtax, per the Department of Revenue's DR-15DSS schedule.
No property on the venue list publishes a rate for this week. Ask each hotel for the all-in nightly figure with every line named.
Parking, and the free streetcar
Tampa Convention Center Parking Garage, 141 E. Brorein Street: 454 spaces, 11 ADA spaces, 2 EV chargers, maximum height 6 feet 6 inches. The event rate runs $5.00 to $50.00. The non-event rate is $3 per hour with an $18 daily maximum. The garage keeps no long-term spaces, and the venue routes those to Pam Iorio at 301 Channelside Drive (790 spaces) and Fort Brooke at 107 N. Franklin Street (556 spaces), each priced $5.00 to $50.00 for an event and $3 per hour otherwise.
Front Drive, at 333 S. Franklin Street, holds 36 metered spaces at $4 an hour from 8 a.m. to midnight with no overnight parking. The TECO Line Streetcar is fare free and stops at Dick Greco Plaza, station 10, at Franklin Street and Old Water Street.
What to put in the room request
No block exists to join, so a group request goes to the properties directly or through hotelhuddle. That route sends one request to 50+ hotels and takes responses in 24 to 72 hours. It adds no markup to the rate and covers group rates from 10 rooms a night, with some hotels discounting from five.
Ask each hotel four things: the all-in rate with every tax line named, the cancellation deadline in writing, which entrance the hall uses at 9 a.m., and the bag hold for a Thursday checkout.
Before you book
Four checks. Confirm the show hours with the organiser, because the city card carries one 7 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. listing window rather than a daily floor clock. Confirm the sky bridge runs for both show days. Confirm which garage your hotel recommends, because the TCC garage takes no overnight vehicle. And confirm the rate with every tax line in it.
