Booking WaterSmart Portland after the block closed

The official WaterSmart Innovations room block has closed. The rooms have not. AWWA still publishes a conference link into the DoubleTree by Hilton Portland under group code CDTWSI. Its hotel section carries one line: Although the official room block deadline has passed, rooms are still available at the DoubleTree by Hilton Portland.

Two questions decide the booking. AWWA publishes no nightly figure, so every comparison starts with the property.

The dates are October 21 to 23

AWWA publishes October 21-23, 2026 (Wednesday-Friday) at the Oregon Convention Center. The venue lists the same three days as session days: Wednesday, October 21, 2026 from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Thursday, October 22, 2026 from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Friday, October 23, 2026 from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

The venue page header above those hours reads October 20 to 22. AWWA and the venue day lines both read the 21st through the 23rd. Book those three days.

What the group link books

The published reservation link opens on arrival 2026-10-20 and departure 2026-10-24, property code RLLC-DT, group code CDTWSI. That is four nights, Tuesday through Friday.

Four nights fits the schedule at both ends. The first session opens at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, and the Tuesday night is the night before it. The last session closes at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, and a Saturday flight needs the Friday night. A Wednesday-to-Saturday booking drops the Tuesday night and the Wednesday morning with it.

No rate is published

Neither the conference page nor the venue page carries a nightly figure for the DoubleTree. The group link renders no price until a guest enters dates.

Ask the property two questions when you call. Ask what the group code returns for the four nights from October 20. Ask what the fully flexible rate is for the same dates. Ask which cancellation window each one carries. AWWA states no cancellation terms for the group rate.

Price the MAX pass into the comparison

Guests staying at the DoubleTree receive complimentary light rail passes. AWWA states the passes cover travel between the hotel and the convention center and throughout Portland during their stay, and that the pass works on the Red Line for the airport trip at no cost.

TriMet publishes an adult fare of $2.80 for a 2½-hour ticket, with no further charge after $5.60 in a day. Five travel days at the daily cap reach $28.00.

The walk covers the same trip. AWWA puts the DoubleTree just a half-mile from the convention center, a 5 to 10 minute walk through the Lloyd District. The train takes about 5 minutes for one or two stops, and trains run every 15 minutes or less.

The AWWA page spells the pass MAC in two places and MAX in two others. The regional system is MAX.

The registration leg will not refund

Full-conference registration now costs a non-member $795. The early rate closed at 11:59 p.m. ET on September 21, at $595 for members and $695 for non-members. From September 22 the member rate is $695 and the non-member rate is $795.

AWWA takes cancellations in writing only, by email to services@awwa.org. A cancellation dated by the early-bird deadline received a refund minus a 25 percent administrative fee. After that deadline there is no refund, and substitutes are welcome.

The registration fee is fixed. Book the room on a cancellation term that returns the money.

The workshop decides the Tuesday night

Full-conference registration covers sessions, the exposition, the reception and lunches. Workshops and tours cost $90 to $180 on top.

Workshop PCW01 runs on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at $180, and the room holds 48 people. An 8 a.m. Wednesday start needs the Tuesday night in Portland, and the group link already books it.

If you are bringing a group

hotelhuddle notifies 50+ hotels in the destination with one request, and hotels return competing rate quotes in 24 to 72 hours. Submission carries no charge, and no commission is added to the booking rate. Most hotels require 10 or more rooms to qualify for a group rate.

File the request before accepting a single group rate. A utility team booking four nights holds the room count that group pricing answers.

One warning before you book

AWWA publishes an alert that unauthorised organisations are contacting attendees to solicit hotel rooms, and asks attendees to reserve using only the link provided by AWWA. Use the conference page's link, or call the property and quote the group code directly.

The order to do this in

Register first, because the $795 is fixed and the refund window has closed. Book four nights against the group code. Price a flexible rate for the same dates, and add the $28.00 in fares that the pass covers.
