One Route Into the Block
The 2027 Central Zone Invitational runs January 23 and 24 at the Indiana Convention Center, 100 South Capitol Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46225. The tournament is hosted by the Capitol Sports Center and Circle City Volleyball, plays in Exhibit Hall A–K across age divisions 11s through 18s, and carries a forecast attendance of 20,000.
An out-of-town team has one booking route. The organizer states it plainly: “To participate in the Central Zone Invitational, all out-of-town teams must reserve rooms through the event’s designated housing company. This event participates in the Tournament Advantage Program (TAP), and reservations made directly with a hotel will not count toward the participation requirement.” A room booked outside the block does not clear that requirement.
Housing opened Tuesday, September 1 at 9 a.m. Eastern through Integrated Tournament Solutions, and booking runs through the event’s housing portal or 800-476-0060 ext. 118.
What the Block Looks Like Right Now
The portal’s header for this event lists 107 properties in the block, with event hotel rates from $115 per night and a $12.00 booking fee per reservation.
Availability decides the call. On September 22, 2026, 104 of the 107 properties returned a sold-out flag and offered only a waitlist. Two still accepted a booking: Signia by Hilton Indianapolis Convention Center, 0.2 miles from the venue, listed from $208 a night with a Club Signia Suite showing 6 rooms left at $583; and Conrad Hilton Downtown Indianapolis, 0.4 miles out, listed from $312 a night with a king at $312 and 30 rooms left, on two- and three-night minimums. A third, Best Western Plus North Indianapolis at the Pyramids 11.6 miles out, published no rates because its rooms have not been released.
The lowest priced line in the block sits at Hilton Garden Inn Northwest Indianapolis, 10.1 miles out, at $115 for a king.
The Friday Night That Decides the Stay
Required check-in runs 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2027 in Hall F at the convention center. The organizer states there is no late check-in on Saturday morning, and rosters must be complete in AES by Thursday, January 21.
A Saturday arrival cannot work for a team that must check in first. Every block property carries the line “An extra night (Jan 22) can be added when you book, subject to availability.” Availability is tracked per night, and Friday holds less room to move than the tournament nights.
The Fee, the Penalty and the Age Rule
The TAP fee is flat: $12 per reservation, non-refundable, no matter how many nights the reservation covers.
Changes or cancellations made within 10 days of arrival may result in a penalty of one night’s room and tax. A no-show on the first night is charged one night plus tax and the remainder of the reservation is cancelled. Early departure may draw a penalty as well. The hotel may pre-authorize the card on file or require a first-night deposit, and may release any room without a valid guest name and card.
The front desk adds an age rule. All guests must be 21 or older to check in, with standard check-in at 4:00 p.m. A team traveling with under-21 players cannot book them into a room under their own name, and the portal requires a named guest and a team attribution on every room.
The Five-Room Ratio and the Commuter Exemption
The portal badges this event “TAP · 5 rooms / 60 mi”. TAP states that each event’s ratio, commuter distance, deadline, exemption process and cancellation policy are posted in that event’s registration materials.
Exemptions exist and they are narrow. A commuter exemption is automatic on proof of distance to the venue. Military and government rate bookings, and qualifying hotel-loyalty-point bookings, may qualify. An individual exemption does not change the team’s room block or ratio obligation, and a whole-team exemption needs prior written approval from the tournament director.
The Rate Guarantee Is the Trade for Booking Inside
TAP’s rate guarantee makes the hotel responsible for keeping the contracted group rate at the lowest publicly available rate for comparable room types during the peak event dates. Membership and eligibility rates such as AAA, AARP and government, prepaid non-refundable rates and non-comparable room types sit outside that comparison.
If a lower public rate appears, TAP notifies the hotel, and the hotel has 48 hours under its contract to remove the lower rate or cut the rate for the entire block, so every family benefits. TAP states that the event does not control hotel pricing, availability or the hotel’s response.
What to Confirm Before You Commit
One conflict needs a phone call. The convention center’s own news item dated April 21, 2026 says Signia by Hilton Indianapolis is accepting reservations for stays beginning February 1, 2027. The housing portal sells Signia rooms for January 23 and 24, 2027. Confirm with the housing team before you build the trip around it.
The registration clock is separate from the housing clock. Registration opened September 15 at noon Eastern through OttoEvent, the entry fee is $600, fees must be received with the completed entry form by 11/01/2026, and no refunds are given after November 1 or after a division fills.
Downtown logistics: 7,100 hotel rooms, more than half within blocks of the convention center and Lucas Oil Stadium, and 4,700 connected by skywalk.
