One Saturday, one decision
The 42nd annual Circle City Classic runs Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Lucas Oil Stadium, 500 S. Capitol Avenue, Indianapolis. The venue lists the day from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The gate clock is published. The South Parking Lot opens at 8:00 a.m., the ticket office at 9:00 a.m., the gates at 9:00 a.m., and the first kick-off at 10:00 a.m.
For a group that is one Saturday night against a Sunday checkout. Add Friday if the group wants the 8:00 a.m. parking lot without a morning drive.
The run of show sets the last hour
Two girls flag football matchups open the day on the stadium field. Crispus Attucks meets Arsenal Tech from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Lawrence North meets Ben Davis from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
The Black Business Training Institute networking forum runs 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Blue Room. Education Day and the college fair run 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Upper East Club Lounge.
The tailgate and fan festival on South Street carries the longest block of the day, 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The day party in the Upper West Club runs 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
High school showcase game one warms up at 1:00 p.m., holds pre-game ceremonies at 1:45 p.m. and kicks off at 2:00 p.m. The HBCU Battle of the Bands, with Talladega College, Kentucky State University and Miles College, takes the field from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Showcase game two warms up at 6:00 p.m., holds ceremonies at 6:45 p.m. and kicks off at 7:00 p.m.
The organiser's own day card reads a start at 11:00 a.m. and an end at 9:00 p.m., and closes re-entry after 5:00 p.m. Either way the day runs late, so plan the walk back or the drive for that hour.
What the venue publishes, and what it leaves to the property
Two rules are posted for the day. Lucas Oil Stadium is a cashless venue, and the clear bag policy is in effect for this event. The clear bag limit is 12 by 6 by 12 inches, and a clutch bag is limited to 4.5 by 6.5 inches.
No rate, no room block and no cancellation term appears on the event page. The Hotels and Lodging link routes to the venue's city booking portal.
Book flexible first, then convert
Ask the property for three things before any payment: the cancellation deadline in writing, the gap between its flexible and non-refundable rate, and whether a one-night hold can be extended without a new deposit.
No source publishes those numbers for this weekend. The market measure worth carrying is a range. Engine puts the Indianapolis average at $128 a night across 1.2 million rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026, with September at $117 and October at $134. Those are par rates from searches made 10 to 180 days before check-in, and the year swings 32 percent.
Booked inside a week, the flexible rate keeps the decision reversible. Convert it once the group size is final.
A walkable downtown room or an outer one
The Indiana Convention Center publishes the walkability case. More than half of downtown's 7,100-plus hotel rooms sit within blocks of the convention center and Lucas Oil Stadium. Downtown holds 200 restaurants within walking distance, and 4,700 rooms connect to the complex by skywalk.
The skywalk keeps hours. The published rule of thumb is a lockdown about 11:00 p.m. and a reopen about 6:00 a.m. The venue's 10:00 p.m. window leaves about an hour of margin.
The venue's lodging channel carries 64 properties in its data, rated from two to four and a half stars. No rate appears on any of them until you enter dates. The page reads "Please enter dates to see rates" and carries an assistance line at 800-350-6181.
Denison Parking operates all Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium parking lots. Downtown holds more than 70,000 parking spaces, and the venue's parking page offers reserve-and-pre-pay parking online.
Late checkout against a 10:00 p.m. window
A standard checkout does not cover a day that runs to 10:00 p.m. Ask the property to confirm its latest checkout time and the fee in writing, and to say whether the fee is charged per room or once for the group.
If the answer is noon, the room is useful for the first half of the day. A one-night booking at a walkable property with a confirmed late checkout keeps the group's evening open.
