The finals and the clock that sets the trip
The ISSMA State Marching Band Finals return to Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday 7 November 2026. This is the 53rd year of the Indiana state championship, and 42 Indiana high school bands qualify for it. The stadium has hosted the finals every year since it opened.
Four times on the venue's own event page set the plan. The ticket office opens at 7:45 a.m. The North and West gates open at 9:00 a.m. The first band steps off at 9:30 a.m. The last performance is scheduled to end at 11:59 p.m.
One night, and when a second night pays
Book Friday 6 November and check out Saturday 7 November. That single night puts the group downtown before the 9:00 a.m. gate.
A band performing late needs a second night. The published day ends at 11:59 p.m., so the Saturday night of 7 November with a Sunday 8 November checkout covers the walk back to the room. The Friday night covers the gate. The Saturday night covers the finish.
Admission and the four ticket channels
The association's 2026 press release sets finals admission at $30.00 for an adult and $25.00 for a student or preschooler. Children under three enter free.
The ticket information sheet linked from the venue event page carries the channels and the fees. Advance purchase through Ticketmaster adds $7.65 per ticket and caps an order at 50 tickets. Advance purchase in person at the stadium ticket office adds nothing and runs on Fridays only, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern, by credit card with photo identification matching the card. Participating bands have a limited-time group purchase through their band director. On the day, the Southeast Ticket Office is the only sales point, and it opens at 7:45 a.m.
Four rules apply to every channel. Tickets are mobile only. Payment inside the stadium is cashless. Purchased tickets are not returnable. The NFL Clear Bag Policy runs for this event.
The order that settles both commitments
Tickets are not returnable, and the no-fee ticket window opens one weekday a week. Settle the room first. A refundable rate on the Friday night holds the stay while the ticket is bought on the next Friday the office is open.
Two further events sit near this date. The venue calendar puts the Bands of America Grand National Championship at the stadium on 12 to 14 November, and the Big Ten Football Championship Game on 5 December.
Where to stay for a 9:00 a.m. gate
Distance to the stadium decides this stay. The venue's Hotels & Lodging link opens the Visit Indy reservation list for Lucas Oil Stadium, and the list carries 64 properties.
Five of them sit inside half a mile. Holiday Inn Indianapolis Downtown is 0.03 miles from the building, Staybridge Suites Indianapolis Downtown 0.05 miles, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Indianapolis Dtn-Conv Ctr Area 0.08 miles, Crowne Plaza Indianapolis-Dwtn-Union Stn 0.35 miles, and Tru by Hilton Indianapolis Downtown 0.37 miles. Thirty-one of the 64 sit inside one mile, and the list runs to 9.97 miles. Star ratings run from two to four and a half.

What to put in the room request

The market the rate is priced against
Engine puts the Indianapolis average at $128 a night across 1.2 million public rate observations from May 2024 to April 2026. November averages $122, five per cent below the city figure. The year swings 32 per cent between the February low and the May peak. Those are par rates, taken from searches made 10 to 180 days before check-in.
