A five-day championship with a four-night stay
The NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championship runs March 9 through 13, 2027 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. The NCAA lists preliminaries and finals in swimming events alongside diving competitions, with team and individual champions determined by cumulative points.
The booking arithmetic is four nights. March 9, 2027 is a Tuesday and March 13 is a Saturday, so a Tuesday arrival with a Saturday release covers the nights of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The prechampionships manual that carries the day-by-day clock is due on ncaa.org by mid-November. Confirm whether your program's last event falls on a Friday evening final or a Saturday session before you commit to a fifth night.
Confirm the Saturday checkout
A four-night hold assumes the team swims through Friday night. Ask the coaching staff which session is the last one the team will contest, then decide. The NCAA's 2026-27 important-updates memo sets the field at 175 men and 205 women, for 380 participants across both genders.
Indianapolis carries other business that week. The Big Ten Conference announced that the 30th TIAA Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament is at Gainbridge Fieldhouse from March 9 through 14, 2027. It opens on the same Tuesday the swim meet does, with the semifinals on Saturday and the title game on Sunday. Work Truck Week runs March 9 through 12, 2027 at the Indiana Convention Center.
The NCAA team hotel list is not published yet
Reserve a refundable rate and keep the flexibility. The championship information page's only team hotel document is the 2025-26 Championships Hotel Options file, and it covers Evansville, the previous host city. No 2027 Indianapolis block, property roster, nightly rate, cut-off date or attrition term is posted on ncaa.org. The prechampionships manual is due by mid-November, and the team hotel list arrives with it.
Book refundable now to hold the nights, then move to the team block when it appears if the block is better. Ask for the cancellation deadline in writing, and ask whether it is a date or a number of nights before arrival.
Campus-adjacent room or downtown room
The Natatorium is a swimming complex on the campus of Indiana University Indianapolis, at 901 West New York Street. The campus side of the city carries its own ZIP: 46202, against 46204 and 46225 for the downtown core. No published source carries a nightly rate for either side, so price the choice in the walk and in the skywalk's curfew.
The campus-side options in our own directory are the Hampton Inn Indianapolis Downtown IUPUI at 414 West Vermont Street and the Residence Inn by Marriott Indianapolis Downtown on the Canal at 350 W New York Street, both in the 46202 ZIP that covers the campus. A downtown room puts the team inside the restaurant and skywalk district. The Center's own counts measure it: 7,100 downtown hotel rooms, more than half of them within blocks of the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium, 4,700 rooms connected by skywalk, and 200 downtown restaurants within walking distance.
Downtown properties inside the connected network include the JW Marriott Indianapolis at 10 South West Street, the Westin Indianapolis at 241 West Washington Street, the Conrad Indianapolis at 50 West Washington Street, the Courtyard and SpringHill Suites at 601 West Washington Street, the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites at 501 W Washington Street, and Le Méridien Indianapolis at 123 South Illinois Street. Downtown properties outside the network: Marriott Indianapolis Downtown at 350 West Maryland Street, Embassy Suites by Hilton Indianapolis-Downtown at 110 West Washington Street, the Omni Severin Hotel at 40 West Jackson Place, and Hyatt Place Indianapolis Downtown at 130 South Pennsylvania Street.
Three published counts cover the connected inventory. The Convention Center reads 4,700 connected rooms, Visit Indy's connected-hotels page reads 12 hotels and 5,200 rooms, and Visit Indy's new-developments page reads 13 properties and 5,500 rooms. Ask each shortlisted property to confirm its skywalk connection in writing. The Convention Center states that skywalk closing and reopening are event-dependent, with a rule of thumb of lockdown around 11:00 p.m. and reopening around 6:00 a.m.
Results deadlines and the small print
The 2026-27 updates memo carries a compliance clock that touches travel. Meet hosts and competing institutions must submit results within 72 hours of competition. Failure can put a team's or an individual's championship eligibility at risk and carry a $400 penalty per team or individual. Division II programs must meet selection minimums of eight contests with nine participants per gender, against a maximum of 16 dates.
Parking, transit and getting the request out
Denison Parking operates all Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium lots and arranges specialty and long-term parking at (317) 916-1760. Downtown holds more than 70,000 parking spaces, and you can reserve and pre-pay online. IndyGo runs the bus system and Open Door paratransit at (317) 635-3344. The Maryland Street canopy is the recommended taxi pickup and drop-off point, and access there can be restricted during events.
hotelhuddle.com sends one request to 50 or more hotels in a destination at no charge. Its how-it-works page states that hotels respond with competing rate quotes within 24-72 hours, that group rates apply from 10 or more rooms per night with some properties discounting from five, and that no markup is added to the quoted rate. You pay the property directly. Confirm every rate, deadline and parking charge with the hotel before committing.
