One Monday, three venues
Elite News publishes the 40th Annual MLK People’s Parade & Festival for Monday, January 18, 2027 in Dallas. The organiser splits the day across three addresses and three start times. A corporate breakfast opens at 7:00 a.m. at the African American Museum at Fair Park, 3536 Grand Avenue. The parade steps off at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Avenue and South Lamar Street and moves east on MLK Jr. Boulevard into Fair Park. The Community Festival opens at 12:00 p.m. at the Tower Building at Fair Park, 1221 Midway Plaza.
A group attending the breakfast needs a room on Sunday night. That single fact sets the block.
Why the arrival is Sunday
A 7:00 a.m. breakfast puts a guest at the museum before 7. A Monday check-in lands after the breakfast ends. Sunday, January 17 is the arrival night, and the property should hold the room from Sunday afternoon.
The same night covers the parade. A guest already in the district on Sunday evening reaches Forest Avenue and South Lamar Street on Monday morning without a parking decision at 8 a.m.
The two Fair Park venues sit 500 metres apart
The African American Museum and the Tower Building both stand inside Fair Park. Measured on OpenStreetMap roads, the two addresses are about 500 metres apart. The parade covers the ground between the residential blocks and the park. It forms at Forest Avenue and South Lamar Street and runs east on MLK Jr. Boulevard into Fair Park.
One hotel therefore serves all three venues. A property on the eastern side of the boulevard keeps the breakfast, the parade and the festival within walking distance, and the guest leaves the car parked from Sunday evening to Tuesday morning.
The museum sits about 6 km by road from Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas. A property outside the park carries that drive on the parade morning, when MLK Jr. Boulevard carries the parade.
The Tuesday departure
The festival opens at noon. The organiser publishes no closing time for it. That gap decides the checkout. A Monday checkout loses the festival. A Tuesday checkout keeps the afternoon and costs one night.
So the shape is two nights: Sunday, January 17 and Monday, January 18, with a Tuesday, January 19 departure. A Saturday night adds a night with no published event on it. Put the two-night request in writing and ask the property to quote a Monday late checkout as a separate line.
The 11 January close, and the quote
Sign-ups opened September 1, 2026 and close January 11, 2027, one week before the parade. One form covers parade, vendor, volunteer and sponsor interest. The organiser states that the form starts the conversation and that it is not a guaranteed spot.
For a group, that date orders the work. The roster is not fixed until the organiser confirms the entry. The room count cannot be fixed until the roster is. Quote before January 11 and the block holds a number that may still move. Quote after it and the property prices a holiday Monday against a week of remaining rooms.
Ask the property for a rooming list deadline after January 11. Ask for the attrition terms if the roster shrinks when the organiser replies.
What to send the property
Send the three street addresses on the request. Send the two nights by date. Send the arrival method for the breakfast, because a 7:00 a.m. start makes an early check-in the question. Ask whether the property will hold luggage after a Tuesday checkout.
Then ask what the property knows about MLK Jr. Boulevard on January 18. The parade uses the boulevard that morning, and the answer tells the group whether the front door works.
What the organiser does not publish
The site carries no hotel block, no nightly rate, no reservation cut-off, no shuttle and no parking arrangement. It carries the three venues, the three times, the 11 January close, a 200,000-plus expected community reach, and a contact line at 214-775-9955 and MLKpeoplesparade@gmail.com.
The room decision therefore rests on the geography and the roster date. The organiser publishes both.
The other parade on the same morning
H.E.L.P. Dallas publishes a separate parade for the same Monday. The 45th Annual Official Martin Luther King Jr. Parade of the City of Dallas steps off at 10:30 a.m., half an hour after the Elite News start, and it carries its own street plan.
A guest who plans to watch has two published mornings on one boulevard. Ask which one the group is attending before you fix the room, because the answer sets the walk.
